Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Admission 2024: Dates, Courses, Eligibility Criteria & Selection

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College offers MBBS (5 ½-year course) and BDS (5-year course) at the undergraduate level. The college has an admission capacity of 100 seats for the course. The admission for undergraduate courses in the medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh are based on NEET-UG entrance examinations, conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Selection of candidates is done through state level counselling conducted by Himachal Pradesh University on Behalf of State Government (Department of Medical Education and Research). The counselling is held on merit-cum choice basis, in both state and All-India quota.

Candidates applying for MBBS and BDS seats should have passed 10+2 examinations with Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Bio-technology subjects. The student should have obtained minimum 50% marks together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology subjects in the qualifying examinations.

B.Sc. graduates from a recognized Indian University or equivalent recognized by the University board can also apply, provided they should have secured minimum 50% marks with not less than two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) subjects. These candidates should have also completed their 10+2 with minimum 50% together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology subjects in the qualifying examinations.

Important Points:

• The minimum required aggregate is 50%(General) and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology
• The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on December 31 on the concerned year of application and should not be above 25-years old.
• Student applying under state quota should be a child of Bonafied Himachali residing in Himachal Pradesh, or outside the state on special circumstances as prescribed by the University.
• The candidate applying under All-India quota should have an Indian Nationality and must be a resident of India
• NRI students applying for MBBS/BDS courses in RPGMC should submit their application along with required documents to the Principal of the college and will be admitted under NRI quota based on merit.
• Application for all formats is available online and the dates for entrance examinations are updated in the University and college websites.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Kangra provides MD and MS courses in 15 different specializations. The admission process for all the courses are based on National Entrance Eligibility test-Post Graduate (NEET-PG) conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE). The examination is followed by the counselling procedure, conducted by the state university. The counselling process includes two consecutive rounds to fill all the seats in the Private and Government Medical as well as Dental Colleges in the state.

Candidate seeking admission to MD/MS course in RPGMC should secure their MBBS from a recognized National or International institute. It is mandatory for the candidate to possess Internship and permanent registration from Medical Council of India (MCI) or from the respective State Medical Council (SMC).
