GMC Surat Admission 2024: Dates, Courses, Fees, Eligibility, Selection & Cutoff

Government Medical College Surat offers MBBS and BDS degree programs to the candidates at the undergraduate level. The MBBS course is offered for a duration of 5.5 years including one-year compulsory internship while the BDS program takes five years to complete its duration.

Admissions to the MBBS and BDS programs are done through NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) conducted by CBSE.

• Candidates must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year of admission.
• Candidates must have passed in the 10+2 level examination with Physics Chemistry and Biology combination and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
• 5% marks relaxation for the General PH (Physically Handicapped) category and 10% marks relaxation for the candidates belong to SC/ST Category.
• Candidates must obtain a valid NEET UG rank to apply for the MBBS or BDS program.
• Candidates are also required to appear for counselling upon declaration of NEET UG Results in order to be a part of the final selection procedure.

Apart from the MBBS and BDS courses, Government Medical College Surat also offers numerous medical programs at the undergraduate (UG) level. The UG Medical programs include Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelors Degree in Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), B.Sc. Nursing, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT), Bachelor of Orthotics & Prosthetics (BOP), Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optometry), Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP). The course duration differs for various UG Medical programs.

For BAMS, BHMS and BNAT, candidates need to appear in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The college makes the selection of the candidates through counselling on the basis of marks secured in the entrance exam.

For the rest of the UG Medical courses, the college admits students on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

At the postgraduate level, Government Medical College Surat offers Master’s degree programs in the Medical field leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degrees. The MD and MS degree programs are provided with a wide range of specializations. Duration of each of the above-mentioned programs is three years.

Admissions to the MD and MS courses are done on the basis of marks scored in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) conducted by the National Board of Examinations. However, candidates need to hold a recognized MBBS degree in order to apply for the speciality courses.

To seek admission into the MDS program, a candidate needs to hold a BDS degree recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) or any equivalent degree recognized by the apex body.

Admission will be done on the basis of rank in NEET MDS (conducted by National Board Of Examination) examination which is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination for admission to the Post Graduate MDS program.

• Candidate should have completed one-year compulsory rotating internship after passing the final professional examination.
• Candidates must obtain a valid NEET PG rank in order to secure admission into the MD or MS courses.
• For the MDS program, candidates are required to obtain a recognized permanent registration with the State Dental Council.
• A valid rank in NEET MDS is mandatory to apply for MDS.

Government Medical College Surat also offers super speciality courses like Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch) for a duration period of three years each. Candidates must hold a recognized MD or MS degree to apply for the Superspeciality program in the relevant discipline.

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will have to appear in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Superspeciality Courses (NEET SS) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Selection will be done through NEET counselling.
