The Institute offers a Ph.D. program in the discipline of Physical Science with specialization in Earth Science. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to this program is M.Sc./ M.Sc. Tech/ M. Tech degree with first class (60% marks) in any branch of physical sciences, viz. Geoscience/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics. Candidates are also required to qualify CSIR-UGC-NET for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Selection of candidates is done on the basis of their performance in a personal interview session conducted by AcSIR (CSIR-NGRI).
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program must apply and appear for CSIR-UGC (NET) for JRF prior to filling the online application form. Prospective applicants can submit their applications online and pay the prescribed application fee using credit/ debit card or net-banking.
