For someone who is a fresher and also from a non engineering background, it might be a difficult task to convert a call from TAPMI but it is not impossible. He/she will have to compete with people with experience or a technical background. He/she should be expecting more questions on academic record, personal skills, and strengths.
Below are some general suggestions;
Some don'ts are;
If you can afford taking a year drop, then definitely go for it and aim for IIMs or other top B-schools such as IIFT, S.P. Jain, FMS. If you do not achieve a higher score than you did this year, you will have to explain what you did with an extra year to not only IIMs, but to every interview you go. However, I would recommend going through the interviews, seeing what you have converted this year, and then make an informed decision.GIM is also a good institute and so is tapmi, but they don't fall in the same category as IIMs though.
A minimum of 94%ile in CAT will help you convert IMT, Ghaziabad, and TAPMI based on your interview performance.
In TAPMI, the weight of GD/PI is 45% and IMT, Ghaziabad has less weightage on PI at 15%.
Colleges may call depending on numerous variables. IIMs rarely call candidates without a 95+ percentile. IIMs exclusively accept top academic and overall candidates. Other colleges like FMS, XL, SPJIMR, and MDI assess the candidate's whole profile, giving them a little edge. These institutions consider work experience, extracurriculars, and leadership skills in addition to academic performance.
Even after being accepted to a top college, a candidate's academic performance may affect their placements, which could damage their job chances. The only thing candidates can control is their CAT/XAT score. So they should try their best and then decide.
TAPMI accepts CAT/NMAT/CMAT/XAT scores.Cut off respectively are 85,80, 95 and 80 percentiles. After clearing the cutoffs they shortlist on the basis of academic profile including 10th, 12th and graduation scores and work experience with extra curricular activities.
After the shortlisting, TAPMI conducts WAP, GD, and PI rounds.
If you are waitlisted at 20 in the first waitlist, there is a fair chance that you can convert it in the upcoming waitlists. As the waitlist of new and babyIIMs moves, the speed at which the waitlist of colleges that comes below IIM in rankings, like TAPMI, is pretty faster, so it is likely that you will get a call from TAPMI. The waitlist for TAPMI easily moves from 400 - 600, so considering the waitlist of 20, there is a high chance that you will get a call from the college.
Yes. If you've made it beyond the cutoff and have a diverse enough resume to impress the interview panel, you should be able to nail the admission interview.
One of the few fields where your prior academic performance can be disregarded is the MBA. Academics are undoubtedly taken into account, but if you can support your lack of marks with other interests, projects, and value additions to your profile, it won't be held against you as much as in entrance exams for other degrees.
This data has been obtained from the official website of TAPMI.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum aggregate score of 60% in both X and XII examinations.
Students will be shortlisted and informed at their registered email address. Thereafter, candidates will have to appear for an online interview and micro-presentation (20-25 minutes duration overall).
The final selection for admission to the program would be based on,
Program Fees is araound INR 3.75 Lakhs per year.
The Application process starts from November first week and goes till January last week, meanwhile, you have to appear for one of the exams from CAT/XAT/NMAC.
For the shortlisted candidates out of these exams, TAPMI conducts a GD followed by a personal interview. TAPMI declare their results at the end of March. TAPMI classes start in the last week of June.
TAPMI has an admission process like any other Indian B-school. You have a have to graduation degree with atleast 50% to be eligible for the admission process. TAPMI considers CAT, XAT, and NMAT and they release the individual cutoffs in the month of month of January.
