Wildlife Institute of India (WII) was established in 1982 in Dehradun under the Government of India and Ministry of Climate change, Forest and Environment. For the training of students who are learning about wildlife, there are a total 300 birds, 20 reptiles, 15 mammals, 17 spiders, 650 plants and species.
College provide courses i.e. M.Sc, 1 week certification course, 6 months certification courses, etc. The college offers 10 courses and the popular courses are M.Sc., PGDM, Certifications and Diploma courses. Indian students as well as foreign students can take admission in this college.
3.1 How to Apply?
For the admission in M.Sc. course, students have to appear for NET entrance exam. For other certification and Diploma courses admissions are based on Merit List. For the Diploma and Certificate courses, Foreign Government and State forest departments send their best candidates who have experience in this field for the admission.
Students get internships which is the most important thing in the course. Talking about the placements, students get the chance for the placements also.

M.Sc | Duration: 2 years Specialization: Wildlife Sciences, Heritage Conservation and Management Eligibility: Minimum 55% marks in graduation from any recognized university The maximum age limit is 25 years as on July 01, 2019 with relaxation of 5 years for reserved category national candidates (SC/ST/OBC) and 3 years for foreign candidates. For the in-service candidates and professionals, the age limit is 35 years as on July 01, 2019. |
PG Diploma | Duration: 10 months Specialization: Advanced wildlife management Eligibility: DCF/ACF or any other officer working in national parks, wildlife, sanctuaries, universities and foreign nationals including SAARC countries |
Certificate | Duration: 1 week to 6 months Specialization: Wildlife management Eligibility: Service officer in deputy officer or range officer with minimum 12 standard pass |
M.Sc.- Admission to the above-mentioned courses, the candidates will have to sit for NET exam. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Personality Aptitude Test and Interview.
PG Diploma- Selection is on the basis of a recommendation by State Forest Departments of officers of the rank of DCF/ACF who meet the eligibility criteria.
Certificate- Admission will be based on first come– first serve basis.

Internship opportunities are given to students, who can intern under wildlife forest, sanctuaries. For M.Sc. students: those students will get the placement as a wildlife officer post and other posts, 50% of students get placements.
For PG and certificate courses candidates: those candidates will upgrade their post by doing these courses.
