There is no such course as XIMB HRM. The HR School of XUB, XAHR, offers the HRM course. Pursuing this degree is certainly worth the money invested. Xavier School of Human Resource Management placements has an average CTC of INR 12.9 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 22.5 LPA. Many students get salary packages in INR 20 LPA slab.
The XUB thing hasn’t made any major impacts. The faculty is same, the selection criteria are same, and so is the list of recruiting companies.
First of all, I don’t deem it right for you to compare an MBA with Development studies as both are vastly different. Even comparing a General MBA with that in Rural Management is unjustified. The choice of the program depends on what your inclinations and interests are and what you want to do with your degree.
The points below will help you know the right choice for some general preferences.
It is essential to know what exactly a course offers and what you are after only then you can make an informed decision
Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar also known as XIMB, is one of the elite B- schools in India. It ranks between 10-15 in All-over surveys conducted by various education portals.
The Sustainability Management program at XIMB has the following features:
Curriculum: Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB), keeping its promises to deliver holistic and relevant education, witnessed an increasing need to introduce the newer generation of students, and management professionals to the field of sustainability.
Prospects. The program is designed to prepare students for managerial and leadership positions in both business corporations and national and international development agencies.
Pedagogy: The program harnesses a variety of teaching methods, including interactive lecture sessions, case analysis, group discussions, interaction with experts and practitioners, and the use of videos, documentaries, and films related to sustainability.
Without any second thoughts, XIMB HR is one of the best courses for HRM in the country. Its curriculum is highly rated and industry relevant. Many top companies have offered leading roles over the last few years.
Its legacy of 29 years has given birth to an elaborate alumni base which is another aspect of its excellence. Anyone interested in HR Management should definitely take this course.
MBF (Master's in Business Finance) is a course under the Xavier School of Commerce (XSC). It is important to note that XIMB and XSC are separate schools coming under the umbrella of Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XU). Some key highlights related to this course are
The course is a good option for the qualitative development of an individual, and details regarding placements and internships can be checked from the official website.

Future prospects:
Graduates of the MBA-UMG Program can pursue further study in Ph.D. programs in a number of disciplines like
My personal advice would be to go for this course. Experience in this field will upscale your resume and make you appear unique among many others.
XUB is not exactly different from XIMB. XUB comprises more schools like
In addition there are several PG courses like MBF and it now even offers graduation in Science. Despite the variety of courses offered, the primary focus is MBA. While at XIMB the only course offered is MBA.
Both the campuses are well built far from the city saving them from hectic city traffic. XUM still has some buildings under construction. Excellent food and transport facilities make them a more attractive choice.
Of the two, XIMB was established earlier so enjoys more brand name and value than XUB. XIMB value can be determined through All India Rankings which is not possible in the case of XUB.
My friend was a student at XIMB and all the points mentioned below are based on his experience at XIMB.
Life at XIMB will give you an abundance of memories and knowledge about yourself, life and competitions. Make the best of those 2 years and try to be involved in every possible activity as you won’t get to relive these days and get back those days again.
Before I talk about the worth of private B Schools like IMT/IMI/XIMB, let’s consider their average packages.
B School |
Average Package |
IMT |
INR 17.35 LPA |
IMI Delhi |
INR 17.01 LPA |
XIMB |
INR 20 LPA |
The average package of government colleges like IITs and DSE is slightly less around INR 10.57 LPA. So the point is if you are ready to invest a hefty amount in B Schools, you will not regret the decision as they are game changers. The level of exposure and diversity is almost higher than in Government colleges. IITs, DFS and DSE MBAs have a more theoretical approach than a practical one. However, the figures for private B schools are inflated so do consider the ups and downs.
The final decision is up to you. Try to find what exactly you want from MBA
Make a well-informed decision after proper research.
To begin with, let me tell you that XIMB offers MBA-BM whereas XAHR offers MBA-HRM. XAHR or Xaviers School of Human Resource Management was started after the immense success of the HRM program of XIMB.
Now coming to your question, the program you choose will be an important factor in shaping your career so it should be based on your inclinations. Get a clear idea of the various arenas and specializations of Management and the required skills. Both the courses deal with very important elements of Management but HRM specifically deals with the primary asset of any company, The employees.
BM offers an MBA in various fields like
Each of these specializations have its own pros and cons. For instance, if you are into number crunching, operation management, and market mapping, then BM is a good choice for you. You can get further details of the course on the official website. Analyze what course and why attracts you the most and make an informed decision. So only you can decide which course to take as this is a subjective question based solely on your personal preference.
