Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an under graduate course in the stream of nursing. The duration of the bachelor’s degree in nursing is of 4 years.
The basic eligibility for the course is 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The average fee of the course is from 8000 to 30000 INR per year.

The duration of the course is of 4 years, however the course is divided into two parts
Bsc (Basic) -This is the regular course where the duration is of 4 years.
Bsc (Post-Basic) -It is further subdivided into two categories
Regular-This course is of 2 years which consist of 10+2+General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M).
Distance- This course is of 3 years which consist of 10+2+G.N.M+2 years of experience.
The objective of the course is to demonstrate competency in the knowledge and skills in providing comprehensive nursing care based on problem solving approach in the hospital and community. i) Eligibility for Admission to B.Sc.(N) degree course:
1. Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the B.Sc. degree course in Nursing (Basic) should have passed at the qualifying examinations (academic stream) after a period of 12 years of study with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany & Zoology.
2. Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology (both Theory & Practical) and English with a minimum of 35% marks for SC/ST and 45% of marks for other community in each of the above subject and with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics Chemistry, Biology & English is mandatory.
3. Candidates from other states other than Tamil nadu must procure migration certificate from previous University/ Board and Eligibility certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.
4. Eligibility certificate must be obtained before 31st of August from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.
