School of Correspondence Education, Karnatak University, is one the renowned open universities in India. The university’s main body was established as early as in 1949 and inaugurated in 1950. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has several study centres spread throughout the state of Karnataka.

Karnatak University currently offers several correspondence courses in the faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, and Commerce. It offers both undergraduate and post-graduate courses including a few diploma courses on the existing disciplines. The system of education is flexible and open in regard to methods and pace of learning, combination of courses, eligibility for admission, age of entry method of evaluation, etc.

The minimum eligibility requirement for applying to any of the courses offered by the university is subject to clearing the last relevant qualifying exam. The university accepts admissions in first-come-first-serve basis.

• Candidates applying for any of the courses are required to clear the qualifying exam in the relevant stream/discipline.
• For the applicants applying to either of the post-graduate programs offered by the university, graduation in a relevant discipline is must.
• Allotment of seats will be done only after the candidate has paid the prescribed fees and produced the original documents for verification purpose.
• Interested candidates should download the prescribed Application Form from the University Website or collect the same in person from the university office. Candidates should remit the prescribed fees through online payment mode or in cash.
• Candidates have to pay the amount only for the available study materials as mentioned in the Prospectus
• Duly filled-in application form with necessary enclosures (receipt of remittance of fees, photographs, self-attested copies of educational documents, original documents) should be submitted in person in the Office of the nearest College chosen as the examination centre.
• Reservation is provided as per existing State Government rules. Eligible candidates are provided horizontal reservation as per existing rules of state Government and University concerned.

Karnatak University School of Correspondence Education accepts applications from all candidates who meet the basic eligibility criteria set by the university towards the existing courses. In case og UG, the applicant is required to pass 10+2/PUC/equivalent in the relevant stream to be considered eligible for applying to any of the UG courses offered by the university.

Admissions are purely subject to first-come-first-serve basis. A portion of the seats are reserved for candidates coming from the underprivileged castes as per Government reservation rules. Duly filled-in application form must be submitted in person along with photocopies and original copies of educational documents which should be returned to the candidate after verification. For outstation candidates, a certificate of migration is required.

Candidates applying for any of the UG courses are required to successfully complete 10+2/PUC in the relevant stream to be deemed eligible for the course applied for.

Selection to any of the UG courses offered by the university is subject to meeting the basic eligibility criteria. The applicant will further require to remit the prescribed fees to be eligible for selection.  

Final admission to the aforementioned courses is declared after remittance of the prescribed fees. Reservation is provided for candidates belonging to the backward castes.
