SNDT women’s university was established in the year 1916. The University offers various UG, PG & distance education programs in 36 departments under 26 affiliated colleges. In 1979, the university started its distance education department. The CDE was mainly established to empower higher education through distance mode of education.

The University Conducts University Entrance Test (UET) to grant admission in UG, PG, Diploma & Certificate programs. UET is conducted in Arts & Commerce subjects separately.

UET consists of four papers of 100 marks each. The test is conducted twice in a year i.e. in the months of December & May. Passing UET is not equivalent to pass in standard XII.
