About

Khallikote Autonomous College is one of the best know colleges in south Orissa. It is situated in Berhampur, Orissa. This premier educational institution was started as a Zila School in the year 1856 with the name of Union College and attained the status of an Intermediate College. The college is the foremost college of the state with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC accreditation on January 2017. This college has produced gems like B. Jagannath Das who is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India, Chief Justice Lingaraj Panigrahi, Justice P. Balakrishna, Ex-Governor, Vice Admiral HL Sharma. The former President of India late Dr. V. V. Giri was one of the alumni of this college.

There is no proper placement cell for many courses. But in some courses, this college offers placements to students of the accounting sector and courses related to it. Many companies came to recruit students in which 40 – 50% of students get placements. The college also holds internship programs for their students. In some sectors, students get placements approximately 2-3 LPA. Khallikote Autonomous College Scholarship

As it is a government college, students get scholarships and all the facilities that are provided by the government. Students belonging to reserved classes like SC/STs get more scholarships. Following are the scholarships offered to the students under various categories:

e-Madhubruti: The Govt. of Odisha awards INR 5,000 to meritorious students to help them in pursuing their higher studies. This scholarship is given to 1500 boys and 1500 girls. To be eligible for this scholarship, the family income of the students must be less than INR 6 LPA and he/she must have scored more than 60% marks in Intermediate examinations.
Post-matric Scholarship: The students belonging to SC and ST communities will be given this scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, the family income of the student must be less than INR 2.5 LPA. The scholarship includes course fees and other compulsory maintenance allowance.

Following are the facilities offered by the college to cater to the need of the students as well as faculty members:

Hostel: The college offers separate hostel facilities for both girls and boys enrolled in various courses. It has five hostels to provide accommodation for the outside students. The intake capacity in boys hostel is 310 while the girls’ hostel has 185. The college does not provide hostel facilities for the local students. Each room s equipped with all the essential needs for the students.
Classrooms: The college has a total of 50 classrooms equipped with all the modern equipment to cater to the academic needs of the students. It also has a Wi-fi facility for better connectivity.
Library: The college has a seating capacity of 120 students in the library. It has more than 1,30,006 books, 211 Multimedia Literature, 17,147 journals for the students.

Dislike

Mainly, the university contains teachers whose qualifications are MSc and PhD in their respective subjects.
Only a very few students know who belongs to the placement committee, which is a sad thing to know.
There are government scholarship schemes for all students, but the college administration is very bad.
The hostel infrastructure is good for girls, but in the case of boys, it is just bad because the seating is insufficient. We had previously lodged a complaint against this, but the necessary action could not be taken by the authorities

First, clear the entrance exam which is conducted by the state government. Then merit list will be published. The entrance exam is for 100 marks for each respective subject. the merit is based on the entrance mark and career mark which include your graduation and twelfth than the merit list was published. the application form is available on the same side. the exam will conduct in the month between June to August. Go to the same side and fill up all the respective documents then there will be a page open for you. Then the admit card will release and the exam will conduct on the respective date. the entrance fees of 500 to 1000 on the respective category. if you are backward and scheduled to cast then the fees will be less. in the admission process and reservation, benefits are available. if one University contains 25 per cent reservations. if any vacancy is available in the respective college or university then there will vacancy sheet be released. the admission process occurs in 3 steps.

There is a common entrance test for Odisha students regarding admission to state universities and colleges. I appeared and successfully passed the examination and get placed in khallikote unitary University as an MSc student in chemistry. Yes, there are some reserved benefits for students who are having lower caste and disabilities. It has been a good experience while attending the admission procedure.

First of all, I applied for the CPET ( common pg entrance test) entrance exam which is conducted by all the universities present in Odisha. After the examination mark is published. I took 255 ranks out of nearly 70000 students. I applied ten universities. I got selected in the khalikote unitary university for studing in msc chemistry. The application process is gone through online mode. You can find the application date and application fee from cpet site. I don't know the actual percentage but there is some reservation seat for lower-cast students. No, the admission process is going in neet and clean manner.

Admission was based on common entrance test named CPET. Any graduate having honors on a subject is eligible to apply for the entrance test. After giving entrance test, result comes out after 2 months in ranking structure on the basis of carrier marks and obtained entrance marks. Then college wise admission takes place on the basis of ranks.
