Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences [GIMS] founded in 2013 is one of the most prominent Govt. medical college in Karnataka popularly known as Gulbarga Medical College is situated in Gulbarga, Karnataka. Gulbarga Institute of Medical Studies is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and approved by the Medical Council of India. The Government District Teaching Hospital Gulbarga is the teaching hospital attached to the institute.

GIMS MBBS Admission 2023

The institute offers admission to the MBBS course. 10+2 qualified students can apply for admission to GIMS. The duration is 4 years 6 months along with 1 year of internship.

Admission to the courses will be based on the marks secured in NEET/KCET. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • (10 + 2) or high school secondary examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any equivalent examination conducted by any State Board or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 50% Aggregate marks in PCB/Biotech combined.
  • Minimum age should be 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31st December in that year.
  • Candidate must qualify NEET / KCET entrance exam.

Selection Criteria

  • Admission will be done solely on the basis of NEET scores.
  • Students admitted to this college would have to serve in the state for at least one year and have to furnish an undertaking for that purpose and sign a bond with a non-judicial.
  • The annual fees of MBBS course is INR 64,950 and Hostel fees is INR 3,700 per month.

How to Apply for NEET?

  • Candidates can apply for NEET (UG) - 2023 “Online” only. Visit the official website - ntaneet.nic.in.
  • Click on ‘Online submission for application for NEET 2023’ .
  • Register for NEET 2023, and note down your login credentials for future references.
  • Fill in required details and upload photographs, signature, left hand thumb impression and class 10 certificate and click on 'submit'
  • Pay the NEET 2023 registration fee for general candidates INR 1500, General EWC / OBC candidates INR 1400 and SC / ST / PH candidates INR 800. Processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST) are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable.

Eligibility criteria to appear for NEET:

  • Applicants must reach age 17 by 31 December.
  • Candidates who have completed or appear as compulsory subjects in Class 12 can apply with a minimum of 5 subjects like English, Chemistry , Physics. Distance learning candidates or private students, as well as those who have biology as an additional subject, are also eligible for the exam.
  • General candidates are required to score at least 50%, general PwD 45%, OBC / SC / ST 45% and OBC / SC / ST - PWD 40%.

How to apply for KCET?

  • Visit the official website of KCET.
  • Candidates have to enter their personal details, so as to generate an Application Number and Password.
  • Upload a scanned copy of recent passport size Colour Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG/JPEG format separately.
  • The next step is to pay the Application Fee either by Challan or Net Banking. For Karnataka, students belonging to general category are INR 500, SC / ST / Female candidates INR 250. Students from other states of India INR 750 and Students from other countries have to pay INR 5000.
  • Download the admit card and take a print out of it for future reference.

Eligibility criteria to apply for KCET :

  • Candidates must have passed the 2nd PUC/12th standard or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50 percent marks. In their secondary education they will also have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology as mandatory subjects.
  • The examination will be conducted in English and Kannada with 180 Objective style questions on the language Physics, Chemistry, Maths / Biology and Kannada (where necessary).
  • Candidates have to secure a minimum 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST Category) in PCB group.

GIMS Scholarships 2023

The Scholarships recognize the students' merit and talent. At the beginning of the academic year students may apply for the Scholarships. The amount of scholarship to be granted or the decision to grant the scholarship is considered solely by the administration of the college.

Under the following categories, college can give a scholarship to a worthy applicant.

  2. Students belonging to the economically weaker sections may ask for fee concession (*depends on the college administrations).

Ans. The college provides entry based on NEET rankings into their MBBS program. After publication of NEET Results, the NEET cut-off score of individual medical colleges is released.

Ques. Does Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences have a teaching hospital ?
