National School of Journalism and Public Discourse is a leading and private Bangalore based Journalism institute which was established in 2014 and is affiliated to Bengaluru City University. The NSOJ offers UG, PG and Integrated courses in the discipline of Journalism, Law, Psychology and Literature and admission to these courses is permitted to students depending on their 12th or Graduation results. The college cum non-for-profit institute came into existence with a vision to train individuals into such Journalists who are committed to truth, justice and democracy and become true changemakers of it.
NSOJ was ranked 27 for Mass Communications by Indiatoday in 2021 and 30 for Mass Communications by Outlook in 2022. And due to the college's sincere commitment in building a justice oriented society, it offers 100% placement assurance and assistance to students in top global, national and local news organizations. The NSOJ offers 4 years B.Sc (Hons.), BA (Hons.) and 5 years integrated BA+LLB Degree course at the Undergraduate level and 11 months Diploma course at the Postgraduate level. Also, the complete campus of the college is connected with high-speed wireless Internet connectivity and security of everyone is ensured through CCTV surveillance 24*7. Newsroom: For the purpose of inspiring students, inculcating critical thinking skills in them and training beyond classrooms under the supervision and mentorship of India's most knowledgeable, skillful and experienced journalists, the college has developed an amazing newsroom in the form of an innovative and brilliantly energizing work environment. And this place is well equipped with modern wall arts, a television wall, a wonderful library, lounge and open spaces for students to perform journalistic deskwork.
Studio and Production Control Room: NSoJ has the fully furnished and biggest television news studio in India and these news studios are home of sound-proof broadcast video cameras, green mat background, LED studio lighting, microphones and teleprompter to broadcast specifications while production control room has audio and video mixers, a high specification Apple iMac workstation with the latest video editing software, including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. And both these places are used extensively by college students to prepare daily news bulletins, television talk shows and radio interviews.
Auditorium: The NSoJ also has an auditorium with all the required facilities like terraced seating, dual projectors and a high tech sound and public address system to display short films, documentaries, feature length movies reviews and high definition videos and it can accommodate 100 people at a time. Apart from this, this auditorium is used for organizing music concerts, cultural events and expert talks in collaboration with eminent academicians, public policy strategists, human rights activists, politicians, senior lawyers, jurists, bureaucrats, artists and actors.
Technology Access: In addition to mentioned above, NSOJ has given access to cutting edge technologies related to news collection, production and broadcasting to students and they are also trained for softwares which are extensively used in big media organizations in India and internationally.
