DU B.Ed 2023 Exam Pattern: Syllabus, Marking Scheme, and Recommended Books

DU B.Ed 2023 Exam Pattern is revised and released by Delhi University.  According to their eligibility and the subject they’ve studied, candidates must choose one subject category (Science, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Studies) and only one teaching subject. The teaching subject (i.e. Biology, Physics, Economics, History, etc) must have been studied by the candidate in their qualifying degree for at least 200 marks or at least 12 credits in Core Course & Elective Courses, where they must have obtained at least 50% marks in that subject. However, DU B.Ed Entrance is conducted as a common exam testing the skills of the candidates at the 12th standard level. 

  • In DU B.Ed 2023 Examination candidates will be asked questions from subjects like GK & Teaching Aptitude, Reasoning, Subject Knowledge, and Language Proficiency. 
  • Based on previous years’ analysis of DU B.Ed Exam Pattern, the candidates will be asked a total of 100 multiple-choice questions in a paper for 400 total marks.
  • For every correct answer candidates will get 4 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The total time duration to complete the exam will be 2 hours.

DU B.Ed Entrance Exam is conducted as a single common exam of 4 sections. Each section tests the candidate's overall competency of 12th standard level application concepts (i.e. science, social science, and mathematics), language comprehension (Hindi & English), logical reasoning, and general awareness or teaching aptitude.

DU B.Ed 2023 Entrance Exam: Section-Wise Pattern

Given below are the section-wise pattern for DU B.Ed 2023 Exam.

Section Details
Section A – General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude This section will contain questions that would test the candidate’s general knowledge and awareness of social, political, environmental, and economic issues. The section will also contain questions to examine the perspective and analysis of and responses to teaching-learning situations.
Section B – Reasoning

This section will assess the mathematical, logical, and verbal reasoning abilities. It will also assess candidates’ abilities to analyze and interpret data and find solutions to problematic situations.

Section C – Subject Knowledge up to Class X This section will contain questions based on understanding and application of concepts in Science, social science, and mathematics up to the secondary level.
Section D – Language Proficiency This section will assess comprehension in both English and Hindi.

DU B.Ed 2023 Entrance Exam: Syllabus

DU B.Ed Exam 2023 Syllabus consists of 4 sections, i.e. general awareness, logical reasoning, and language comprehension (compulsory for all candidates), and subject awareness.

  • Each section would include areas to assess the abilities of the candidates such as reasoning (mathematical, inductive & deductive), identifying and understanding the relationship among various elements, decision making, data analysis, interpretation. Items in the fields of education, national and international affairs, etc.
  • The subject awareness section assesses the candidates’ overall knowledge in 12th standard knowledge-based questions. 
  • Further, passage-based objective-type questions will also be asked to assess the candidate’s language comprehension.
