Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Business Informatics)
Field of Study:
The bachelor's degree consists of a core course of 120 credits (4 semesters) and an advanced course of 60 credits (2 semesters).
The course consists of modules, the subjects from the subject areas include:
- Computer science
- mathematics
- Economics
- business Informatics
- Key competencies ("soft skills")
In addition, the course includes a project worth 6 credits and a Bachelor thesis worth 12 credits.
To support the attainment of a focused, first professional qualification, there are various specializations to choose from in the advanced studies (5th & 6th semester), one of which must be selected. Depending on the student's inclination or career aspirations, one can choose a specialization that is more oriented towards computer science or more towards business administration. On the basis of the choice of specialization, either a further specialization can take place in the master’s course or a broader knowledge and competence base can be built up by adding more specialized courses.

Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- General University Entrance Qualification
- Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (not the technical college entrance qualification !)
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:
- Citizens of a country outside the EU with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level) or the TestDaF (TDN 4) before starting their studies.
- Educational residents (people who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad) do not require any special proof of German language skills.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
