- The subject history consists of a variety of subjects, which reflect the entire methodological and content diversity of historical science. A distinction is made between epoch, subject and regional disciplines, which are defined accordingly: over the period covered by them, over the specific area of investigation or over the researched region.
- In spite of all the diversity and diversity, all historical sub-subjects have the same methodological approach in common: They try to explore the past and thereby better understand the present.
- The historical sources are the central basis of historical science, i.e. any kind of representational, written, media, in rare cases also oral transmission. It is the task of the historian to evaluate and interpret these using historical methods; Learning these methods is an essential part of history studies. Most of the studies are exemplary. One of the main goals of the course is the ability to work methodically, systematically and theoretically.
