I am still a students at centum and I think it has been one of the main factors for me being inspired by science. All levels are very inclusive and if one is at the centre he can attend any class and if you would like to join the advanced batch you need only ask and attend 3 classes and you're in! I do enjoy all their classes as the teachers are really great and so is the online and module content
I've been a student at centum for 2 years for JEE coaching and wanted to share my terrible experience with them. Initially, things were fine until they introduced the "Advanced Batch" which is basically a group for the top 10 students in the sectional mocks. This decision was clearly to create a more competitive environment but honestly it is one of centum's worst decisions. This small group of students had access to extra resources, classes, mock tests, assignments etc and overall just had more attention from the teachers. This not only demotivated the rest of our batch, but created this atmosphere where the rich get richer- the "smarter" ones get the most resources to do better. Instead of segregating students off the bat based on how much you think they're worth after 2 months of school, I would get rid of an "advanced group" altogether and open these resources to everyone in the batch. All the extra assignments, classes, mock tests, resources should be optional and provided to everyone so we all have a chance to grow. Secondly, the structure of centum classes has been extremely poor. Throughout my 2 years, many teachers left and we were reallocated different teachers during crucial parts of our exam preparation. This made it extremely difficult to learn properly as different teachers have different teaching styles and quality. There were weeks where we were taught by 3 different teachers for the same subject. Some of these teachers didn't even know how to teach well. I have very mixed feelings about the teachers themselves. Some of the faculty were the best we've ever had, special hats off to the math teachers they did a great job. Other teachers weren't so great. I had a physics teacher who would sometimes show up hungover to class and on a few occasions just didn't teach because he wasn't feeling like it. He would chronically overshare during class and tell us random details about his love life in order to seem cooler. He would also show severe favouritism towards students which made it hard for others in class. During doubt solving sessions he would turn me away and tell me to "just google it" or "ask my friends" instead of explaining the concept to me. This happened so many times it completely turned me off to the idea of asking for guidance from my teachers because most of the time I was just turned away. This isn't just my experience, but multiple peoples as well. Being a centum student has just generally been incredibly demotivating because of the treatment from my teachers. They preach "Education with Emotion" but the only emotion they gave me was depression. Parents, be kind to your kinds and don't send them to Centum, there are much better coaching centres in Bangalore.
This institution heavily lacks the resources it needs to cater to the number of students it has onboarded. They pride themselves on being an institution with mostly IIT graduates, and also proudly stated that their teachers were never trained in teaching (which shows). Often, the portions wouldn't be completed on schedule in certain subjects, which led to additional stress on the students as the school would conduct exams regardless. The employee turnover is high, with over half of the teachers introduced at the start of the program leaving the institute within the year. They were replaced with inexperienced teachers, of which only 1-2 are on par with the older ones. Most of the departments are understaffed, making it a tedious process for doubt clarification or concept revision. This place is just like any other coaching centre where the top 5% of students get a largely disproportionate amount of attention, as their achievements are likely the ones that would be marketable for future customers. Also, most of the reviews placed here are from existing students who haven't yet graduated and were specifically asked by the institution for a positive review. Do yourself a favour and stick to the reputable/tried and tested institutes, don't take a chance with your child's future.
