Master [EngSc in Materials Science and Engineering] From University College Dublin

The EngSc in Materials Science and Engineering programme from University College Dublin is aimed at those who require a specialist qualification in Materials Science and Engineering or who would like to translate fundamental knowledge in another discipline into an understanding of solid engineered materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers and composites.

What will I learn?

You will gain advanced theoretical, conceptual and practical knowledge in the application of Materials Science and Engineering. Emphasis is placed on the skills required to generate new knowledge through research. This is achieved through independent and project based learning while working with UCD academics and researchers on contemporary research projects. The core of the curriculum will be based on the fundamental science of the materials that enable our technological world including:

• Metals
• Ceramics
• Polymers
• Composites
• Semiconductor materials

In each case, the underlying science, processing and properties will be examined and advanced applications of materials will be explored in areas including (but not limited to):

• Biomedical engineering (biomaterials)
• Nanoscience (nano materials)
• Renewable energy solutions (energy materials)
