Currently, the university’s on-campus student population comprises of 15,559 undergraduate and 9,176 postgraduate-level students. In terms of programs, the University of Malaya offers a plethora of programs, without differentiation, to local and international students. In addition to 50+ undergraduate and 200+ postgraduate-level courses, the university also offers Foundation and PG diploma courses. The full-time academic year at University of Malaya, is split into two semesters, Semester I (October to January) of 22 weeks and Semester II (March to June) of 19 weeks. Post Semester II, students can opt for certification/credit-based courses offered during the 10 weeks of Special Semester (July to September).
Supplementary documents like LOR and SOP are not mandatory for University of Malaya UG & PG courses. University of Malaya Admission Deadlines
As mentioned earlier, the academic session at the University of Malaya, is divided into two semesters, offering undergraduate and postgraduate students a chance to apply for their desired program in either of the two semesters. Furthermore, the university offers prospective students a chance to apply upto one year in advance for early decision.

Malaysian Student Visa for International Student
International students need to have a Malaysian student visa to study in any university based in Malaysia. If you want to pursue a program that lasts for 6 months or more, apply for a study visa in your home country, before traveling.
Applicants are required to provide the following documents as a part of the visa process:
- Student Pass from University of Malaya
- A valid University registration number
- Proof of adequate Medical Health insurance
- Biometric passport photograph
- iKad (temporary identity card issued via Malaysian Govt.)
- Medical screening post-arrival

Admission decisions are primarily based on your academic excellence, official test scores, supporting documents, and on-time application submission with the required fee. Ans. The University of Malaya does not guarantee accommodations for international students. But, the International Student Centre (ISC) can assist and help you in getting on-campus accommodation if available or else by providing you with a list of hostels/apartments that you can contact.
Ques. Are English proficiency test scores required?
Ans. The University of Malaya requires you to have TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge A-Level, or Cambridge O Level in English qualifications. Ans. You can appeal to change your programmer or major only when you begin your degree programmer. To appeal, you have to write an official letter stating the reasons for your appeal. Attach your academic transcripts together with the letter and then submit all documents to the Admissions, Records, and Policy Implementation Division, University of Malaya.
