This is suitable for students who have a background in either Computer Science or Statistics, but not both. Students who have majored in Data Science, or a combination of computer science and Statistics, should apply for the 180-point taught masters. Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Applicant must have completed either:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Data Science from this University, with a Grade Point Average of 4.5 or higher in 75 points above Stage II. 
  • A Bachelor of Science with a double major in Computer Science and Statistics from this University, with a Grade Point Average of 4.5 or higher in 75 points above Stage II.

English language requirements are:

  • An overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0 is required in IELTS (Academic).
  • An overall score of 90 and a writing score of 21 is required in Internet-based TOEFL (iBT).
  • An overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21 is required in Paper-based TOEFL.
  • A minimum grade of B- is required in the University of Auckland Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP), if students get admission through it.
  • A minimum grade of B- is required in the University of Auckland English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies (EPPS), if students get admission through it.
  • An overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50 is required in the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic. 

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed both a bachelor’s (3 years) degree.
  • Or, completed a bachelor’s degree requiring 4-years of study (e.g., B.Pharm., M.B.B.S., B.Tech., B.Eng., or B.Arch).

Submission of IELTS scores is compulsory for this program, however, students may submit a PTE score too instead of that.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
