AIIMS Nagpur and IIT Jodhpur have joined hands in setting up a smart device called Wristband. This smart device has been brought into use to track COVID positive and suspected patients.
The smart technology in collaboration of AIIMS Nagpur and IIT Jodhpur has been developed and designed to overcome the shortcomings of any existing mobile applications used for tracking and monitoring as well.
These kinds of existing mobile applications depend on the frequent usage of mobile phones by a quarantined person and a stable internet connection should also be available.
Apart from this, GPS or cell tower triangulation techniques are used in tracking the exact location of an object, which may vary sometimes with a radius of 1.5 - 2 Km.
Simultaneously, it is quite mandatory to identify the symptoms in a quarantined person relying on his subjective self-assessment.

Advantages of the Smart Wristband
There are several advantages of this Smart- Wristband:
- It can easily track COVID Positive and suspected patients in real time.
- It provides us with a reliable data of the vitals of the user such as Temperature, Pulse rate, Respiratory Rate and the Oxygen Saturation Point.
- It will also be helpful to a quarantined person through a health alarm in case of any medical emergency.
- This reliable data will be collected and archived on cloud facilitating monitoring by the healthcare workers from distant locations.
- This device will be more effective and efficient than the GPS system.
