My prime role as the head of the department is to provide strong academic leadership and to lead, manage and develop the department. I also need to make sure that we achieve the highest possible standards of excellence in all our activities. And regarding students, my responsibility is to provide them with a friendly environment to learn new technical skills as per industry and society requirements.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By solving their queries on time and being open to their suggestions"

To establish a healthy relationship with my students, I talk to them regularly, try to solve their queries on time and also provide them with a friendly environment to share their thoughts and problems with us. I follow the same approach with my fellow faculty. Apart from all these, I am always open to their suggestions, grievances and problems. Because I believe that we are a family where each one is valuable and important.

How do you introduce a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

"By including new programs in curriculum and conducting professional visits"

To enforce a practical approach towards subjects and make our student's industry ready, we arrange industrial visits every semester to different industries like Tata power, Sikidiri power plant, Patratu power plant, Jharkhand tools rooms and some power substations, etc. Additionally, we have eight separate laboratories including MATLAB and Simulink (software Lab), BEE lab, Electrical Machine, Power System, Network Lab, Power Electronics and measurement lab, etc. Lastly, we develop and update the curriculum after analyzing our students' needs and industry demands.

Which best practices are offered by the department to students to help them gain necessary skills?

"We offer seminars and personality development training to them"

We have added general proficiency classes in our routine, where we teach them skills like communication skills, teamwork and interpersonal skills, etc. We also arrange seminars and invite technical professionals from different renowned industries and educational institutions for technical talks.

"Providing the best knowledge to students is our aim while we draft and update the curriculum"

We set our strategy in such a way that it builds the confidence in our students and enables them to survive in any walk of life. In the whole four-year curriculum, students are provided the best knowledge by our faculty that makes them confident enough to work for national development.

"Our students are working in various public and private sectors"

Students from our department get placed every year in renowned national as well as multinational companies like JSPL, Capgemini, Bhive Design, Yazaki India, Byju's, Airjaldi, Vedantu, Tata power, Hitachi, etc. While some students are working in Govt sector as Administrative Officers in Bihar public service commission, Junior Engineers at RBI, CDAC, JVVNL, etc. This year about 70% of our students got placed and few have shown their interest in higher education, hence we are providing the classes for GATE exam preparation.

"By offering them mentor to guide them and solve their problems"
