Exam Structure

Admission Process for VIT (2022): 1. Application Process: - The first step is to fill out the VITEEE application form, which usually opens around November or December each year. - The form requires basic details, educational qualifications, and the choice of preferred course and campus (e.g., VIT Vellore, Chennai, etc.). - The deadline for submission is typically in March. 2. Entrance Exam (VITEEE): - VIT conducts its VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Exam) in April. - The exam consists of multiple-choice questions covering subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, aptitude and English. - The results are announced in May, with ranks provided based on your performance. 3. Counseling Process: - Counseling is held in two phases, generally starting in June. - Based on your VITEEE rank, you’ll be invited for the Phase 1 counseling, which usually happens for students with ranks up to 20,000. - Students who rank higher participate in Phase 2 counseling. - The counseling process involves: 1. Document verification (class 12th mark sheet, VITEEE scorecard, etc.) 2. Payment of an advance fee (usually ₹50,000 for seat confirmation) 3. Choosing your preferred campus and branch of study. - The category of fees (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) is also determined based on your rank, with higher ranks getting lower fee categories. 4. Commencement of Classes: - Once your seat is confirmed, you will receive details about the start of the semester. Classes usually begin in July(mine started in September). - Before the academic session, VIT organizes orientation programs to familiarize students with the campus, departments, and student resources. Most Preferred Exam: For the B.Tech program, the VITEEE is the most preferred exam. A safe score/rank to ensure admission in the 1st category for popular branches like CSE or IT is typically below 10,000. If your rank is higher than that, you may still get admission but in the 2nd or 3rd fee categories. Other Admission Routes: 1. Management Quota: - VIT offers management quota seats, which are available for students who do not qualify through VITEEE. These admissions generally involve higher fees, similar to the higher categories. 2. NRI Quota: - NRI students can apply through a separate admission process that requires specific documentation and fees but does not rely on VITEEE ranks. Admission Timeline Overview: 1. November/December: Application form for VITEEE opens. 2. March: Application form submission deadline. 3. April: VITEEE exam is conducted. 4. May: VITEEE results are announced. 5. June: Counseling process begins (Phase 1 and Phase 2). 6. July: Classes commence for the new academic year. Safe Score/Rank: - Rank below 10,000 in VITEEE ensures you a good chance of securing a seat in popular branches like CSE or IT under the 1st category of fees. - Ranks between 10,000 to 20,000 might place you in the 2nd or 3rd fee categories.

Course Curriculum Overview

Here’s a detailed look at the class environment and student demographics at VIT: Class Size: - Number of Students per Class: - Typically, each class has around 60 to 70 students. For larger subjects or core courses, the number can be higher. - Total Student Strength: - For a specialization like Computer Science, there are usually about 2000 to 3000 students per year. - Across the entire B.Tech program, the total student strength can be around 5,000 to 6,000 per year, depending on the intake capacity of each branch. Gender Ratio: - Girls-to-Boys Ratio: - For the Computer Science specialization, the ratio is approximately 1:3, meaning there are about 25% girls and 75% boys. - Across the entire college, the gender ratio is relatively skewed towards boys, with roughly 30% girls and 70% boys. Cultural Diversity: - Diversity in the Class: - VIT has a diverse student body, with students coming from various parts of India and even some from abroad. - Students from states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh are prominently represented. There’s also a significant number from North Eastern states and other regions. - Students from Different States: - Approximately 40% of the students are from outside Tamil Nadu, reflecting the university’s pan-India appeal. - Each class typically includes students from various states, contributing to a rich cultural mix. Peer Group and Learning: - Peer Group: - The peer group is generally collaborative and competitive. Students are keen to support each other in group projects and study sessions. - Peer learning is encouraged, with many students forming study groups to tackle challenging subjects together. - Marks for Participation: - Marks for class participation are not always a formal part of the grading system but can sometimes be considered in internal assessments and project evaluations. - Class Attendance and Learning: - While many students attend classes with the intention to learn, some might be more focused on just meeting the attendance requirements. - There’s a mix of genuine interest and attendance-driven participation. Students who are motivated and engaged find the classes valuable and enriching, while others may view them as just a requirement. Views on Class Participation: - Genuine Learning: - Students who are passionate about their field and future careers tend to actively participate and engage in class discussions. They make the most out of lectures and labs. - On the other hand, those less interested may struggle to see the value in attending all classes regularly. However, those who do attend classes often benefit from the structured learning environment and direct interaction with professors.

Campus Life

The infrastructure was very good as classes used to happen in a well furnished ac class. As new campus ready yet, they have taken a society on a lease. The accommodation in these societies was good . The distance between the academic building and the hostel is 600 m, so easily in travelling although greenery lash ground makes mind cool. There were no AC in Hostels as well as in Buses, so during the summer season it is very difficult to manage. Lucknow has very extreme weather conditions, to go picnic in summer Personal vehicles were not allowed in the hostel. There is one Medical room, where doctor visits everydayThe overall campus life was good, but it would have been much better if they had shifted us to new campus. Talking about social aspects every festival was celebrated with very much enthusiasm. Many cultural events, activities take place through out the year. Cultural committee plays a vital role. So nightlife was good, students used roam on the pathways late in the night, there is only one Shop in the Hostel Premises. It is open till midnight. Roaming Outside the hostel premises in the night is not safe, as no street lights there and thefts incidents had happened. The Major fest is Arunya which happens once in a year, many celebrities such as Ankit Tiwari, Kumar Varun performs during the fest. There are Many Clubs and Committees students joins these according to their area of interest. Placement Committee and Industry Interaction Committee is Most important in terms of value addition, As you get a chance to interact with various industries and you have to get them on to the campus so lot of learning and networking chance for students. Student exchange program is also available with kedge university in France. right now this is the only university available for the student exchange program Question: Tell

Faculty

easy is the course curriculum no students not fail n the exams. good and the bad aspects GOOD-Well equipped labs and classroom also all facilities are present BAD-Peer group not such good also B.TECH student is very much less . exams in every year-6 2 university and 4 mid Sem exams classes take place usually in a day-5 to 6 timings-MOSTLY 9:00AM to 3:00PM teaching methodology :- Well facilitated with Modern teaching requirements. Name the faculties admire:- Applied Math's, Applied Physics, Electrical science reason behind is that they always teach in the way to give concept clearance to students not just trying to force students to cram. Is there a mandatory attendance rule--> Yes their is attendance rule one have to achieve minimum of 75% of attendance. also 75% in each subject else that person will get detained for final exams.

The college has a vast ground for sports like cricket and basketball with a well maintained pitch and timely trimming of the grass. Goal posts are also present for football at the extremities of the ground providing a vast playing field suitable for professional events. There is also a dedicated basketball court(outdoor) as well as grounds with nets for volleyball and badminton. The necessary equipment such as balls, bats, and other miscellaneous equipment are readily available in the dedicated sports room. The college also has a gym with basic weight training equipment like machines and dumbbells and it is open to students during the SPORTS hour. The auditorium is one of the main highlights of the college, Providing ample and comfortable seating for students with air conditioning and industry standard speakers and projectors for presentations and events. It can seat approximately 350-400 students at a time excluding the seating for professors. The library is vast and very neatly maintained. It spans over two floors and strict guidelines regarding the condition of the books borrowed ensures that all the available material is always in a neat and tidy condition whenever borrowed. The library has all the books from First till Final year and in sufficient numbers so that the students do not face a shortage. A book search service is provided in the student portal. The college spans over several acres and student accommodation while not directly provided, Is within a short radius of the college thanks to many third party hostels in the area. Most students prefer College transportation whereas others use public transport like City Bus and share autos operating in the region. Students are permitted to bring bikes which can be parked outside alongside the perimeter as well as a dedicated parking inside the campus for both bikes and cars. There are a few restaurants within a walking distance from the campus where students can go for snacks and meals after hours. The college also has a juice center as well as fast food stalls on-site. The college does have a dedicated medical center run by well qualified nurses and is equipped with necessary first aid and medicines to respond effectively to any mishaps.Overall, The campus life is pleasant. The lush greenery provides a relaxing break after a day of classes. The professors and management do a good job to not stress students out too much with overbearing workload. Since the college gates close by 6PM, Students and faculty typically go back to their residences. Within the campus the ground and the cafeteria are the two hotspots where students meet in free time. The weather is often breezy and with benches everywhere, It is a calm place for students to decompress after a long day of classes. The campus is surrounded by family housing in the immediate area with gated communities being a 10-15 minute walk from campus, The area is generally safe, However, Caution must be exercised at night due to absence of street lights which may lead to someone tripping and falling into the tall grass. There are no clubs as of now. There is no facility for international students. The college is a favorite spot for movie direction, With celebs like Naga Chaitanya, Vishvak Sen, Minakshi Choudhary having visited the college. The college has an Annual Day and a Cultural Day. Annual day is a mostly evening to night event with famous singers like Ram Miriyala having attended the event to perform.

Exam Structure

There is no college specific examination conducted per se, All the enrolled students either secure the seat with their EAMCET rank or Management Quota. For students planning on securing the seat via EAMCET, Upon receiving their rank, They must first shortlist the college in their list. Upon successful shortlisting of the candidate, They are required to have documents like Aadhar Card, 10th Marksheet, Intermediate Marks Memo, Transfer Certificate etc. verified from the nearest verification center of which they will be informed in advance, A list of verification centers will be sent to the candidate. Post successful verification, The candidate must take 3 xerox copies of each document and arrange them in an order specified by the college and reach the college. Now, The candidate must head to the department under which they have secured a seat and pay a small department specific seat after discussing the details with the staff. For example: If the results for EAMCET were released 25-08-2022, The counselling process and admission were concluded 10-09-2022, So an approximate duration for the admission process would be about 2 weeks. Classes commenced on 02-11-2022 so the total time from declaration of results till commencement of classes is about 69 days or approximately 2 months. For a General student, A decent rank to aim for to secure a seat in Computer Science Engineering at Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology would lie in the range of 24,000 to 30,000 however a higher percentile is always helpful. Management Quotas exist but are limited in number, Specific and current details regarding costs are always changing but an average range is 1.65L- 2.2L for a seat in Computer Science Engineering. College authorities need to be contacted for this mode of admission for the latest prices and processes.

The course is difficult, for commerce student, 1st sem was easy because the subjects were same as the 12th class, 2nd sem was average difficult but students failed in both sem. Good aspects, practical and theory goes side by side, bad aspects, management students has to do coding in python for 3rd sem which becomes very difficult. 2 sem end exams only One is may and one in December Almost 5 lectures a day and usually in higher sems, we don't get free time Teaching methodology is traditional only from books and assignments are also with traditional method. I admire my faculty for economics as they have complete knowledge of their subjects, students had a great result in eco subject The mandatory attendance is 67.7 percent. If we fail to do so, its a bond filling process

Campus Life

Indoor games are available in hostel. Ground for outdoor games. Auditorium is under construction. Library is well equipped with standard books and easily accessible. College campus is not that big. From hostel to campus it is a 3 min walk. Personal bike and scooty are allowed in the campus. Most students prefer e rickshaw for travelling. Relatives can visit and stay over night in guest house. No other food joints other than canteen. College have a small dispensary. Not much things to do in campus. There's no Nightlife in campus. No spots to hangout. Not safe to hang out outside in night. Utkrida and aagman are the major fests. No clubs and committee. No international programs for students.

The course curriculum is easy since it is simplified and made available to the student through the school website. The good aspects of my course is the lab work where we get to interact directly with what we were taught in class . Every year we do two main exams since we have two semesters per year . Per semester we do midterm exams and main exams. In a day class around 5 to 6 depending on the number of subjects you do. The timing is from 9- 5 in the evening. Free time is at 1 oclock during lunch break and on the weekends when there is no lectures. The teaching methodology is that we have class work which is oral then lab work where we get hands on what we where taught in class. I admire the labs, since most government schools don’t have labs and in my university we have a functional lab. I don’t admire the washrooms since most of them are dirty. The attendance rule is that you are supposed to have 75% minimum attendance.

Exam Structure

This year students faced open counseling. Jee is preferred over ever other exam, Jee percentile should be above 60 percentile to get cse and over 40 to get ECE. They don't take any interview. When you fill application form, you will have to submit your jee and 12th marksheet, on that basis they out the selection list and if you get selected they send you an offer letter and ask some documents to get it ready by n date. Documents like NOC, Migration certificate, drop year certificate. There are no quota offered. Sometimes donation works, like it's common if you give donation you can easily get admission.

There is an outdoor sports complex with a cricket ground, football area & basketball court, in the gyms there are Table tennis tables and in hostels there are badminton courts Yes college has one functional gym among all hostels, cardio equipment doesn't work, weights under 7.5kg are not available (as they were stolen) No swinning pool, There is a library with 50K books, but you can't study there, you will have to get books issued from there and study in seperate reading rooms in academic blocks, Most books are available. And there are 4 mini auditoriums (seating capacity of ~120) and another mini auditorium with capacity (200), this is a big shame for a university with over 7000 students in strength, College campus is 500 acres large, with most of it being vegetation, there are only 4 actual buildings where students study, the administrative block is around 3KM from hostelsmaking it a pain to go there, maybe 50 years from now uni will utilize the 500 acres, most people travel by taking lift and walk, there are only 2 e-rickshaws that run after the drivers are done with smoking hookah and playing cards, Yes you are allowed to keep your own vehicle in the campus Yes there are guest rooms in hostels where they can stay paying 400 INR/bed/day No there aren't any food joints Yes it has a medical center with testing facility, but they have limited facilities and they will overmedicate you for no reason, and they seem to give drip to everybody who goes there just for funNo night life, after 10:30 PM guards will chase you if they find you roaming in the campus, mostly evenings are spent by couples walking here & there, there is a place called Wifi park where most people sit, they either sit in cafeteria or plaza (a place between 4 hostels), there are no hangout spots as such except some restaurants outside the campus, the locality is fairly safe & free from crime, there is a college annual fest called spandan, where a haryanvi singer is invited to sing, only 400-500 students participate it in it and it isn't any good, Gajendar Phogat performed in it, There is only one Coding Club Officially from the university, other clubs also exist but only on paper, Nowadays Google Developer Groups & Coding Ninjas club is active and is growing, there is also another club called ByteCode learners, I think the google club is important, No foreign exchanges, people here think of Nepal as foreign

Course Curriculum Overview

80 students are seated in my class (but my batch is an exceptional case as people with other quotas also had to be accomodated), but in BTech expect a batch size of 60-70, for other courses like MBA except sizes of 15-20, every year it changes and is updated on the uni website. The girls to boys ratio of B.Tech is around 1:15, and overall university it is around 1:4 My batch is again exceptional, as the open counseling was done in online mode hence it is diverse, but usually for remaining seats, locals fill up the open counseling seats due to logistic advantage, my Batch has 25% UP, 25% Bihar & Jharkhand, 25% Haryanvi, 4-5% Bengali and remaining from Telugu States. Peer group isn't the most productive except for a few, it's a very laid back life here, people care more about webseries that have gaali-galoch and politics more than what React 19 has to offer Yes 5 marks are given for attendance in internal 30 marks (that's why most people come) 95%+ attendance-5 90-95:4 85-90:3 80-85:2 75+:1 <70:0 Most students attend only for attendance, real learning happens in isolation before exams

For me best teachers are Dr. Refia wiquar maam and Tabish Mufti sir. And those who are not admired due to their attitude tiwards students and teaching methodology. There is serious and strict 75% mandatory rule. If you don't fulfill the attendanve you need medical for that.

They are pretty decently managed. Access to third party resources is available. 5. The campus of college is fairly big standing at about 220 acres. The distance is roughly 700 metres. Students generally walk or use a cycle for commuting. 6. Keeping personal motorised vehicles is not allowed in the campus. 7. They can visit the campus and stay in the college guesthouse. 8. There are lot of food joints. Various famous canteens like Cafe 96, Yashnath canteen, Tirath canteens are present. 9. It does have a medical centre. A general physician is always available. Specialised doctors come in shifts.1. The overall campus life was very good. Most students study or roam around the campus. 2. The nightlife is decent. Boys meet and group in canteens where sometimes cricket matches can be presented. 3. Students regularly visit outside the campus. The go to places to visit are Civil lines, Sangam, or they can visit the old side of city like Katra etc. 4. The locality is generally safe. However, it was recommended to come back to campus by 10 PM in the night. 5. The major cultural fest was the Culrav which was a 3 day event including various performances, music and dance events. Many celebrities have also visited during this event. Some famous ones include Farhan Akhtar, Mohit Chauhan etc. Apart from it, various technical fests like Avishkar and Hack36 used to take place encouraging technical expertise. 6. Major clubs and committees are dance committees like western, marathi etc, the music club Nishaad and various dramatics clubs. Also, other clubs like robotics, coding etc were present. 7. Coding club and other important clubs were needed for technical growth. The cultural clubs were also needed for the overall growth in personality. 8. Not a lot of student exchange was observed during my tenure. It used to happen sometime back maybe.

Faculty

The teaching is good and all faculties are so supportive and teach very well the college has school like environment and if anyone fell difficult to pass the exam or fail in exam the teacher will help them with good concern and care. The good aspect about my course is the subject are so interesting and effective but the bad aspect is that the duration of the course that my university provide only 3 months for 6 months semester and that semester will end in 4 months it will become very difficult to study and prepare for exams. Usually average students will have 6 classes per day and that will be from 9 to 3.45 every day. usually one free class will be provided to each class Teaching Methodology of faculties is they will try to cover all the portions before the exam but sometimes some topics left out then they will tell us to do presentation on it. I like many faculties and one special teacher is dr.saroja this teacher will be little strict but the way she teaches will be just like spoon feeding and very understanding. some teachers are there but i cant take names. when its comes to attendance if the teacher is strict the attendance is mandatory , if not it is okay with vailed reasons.

Students who are absent for medical reasons must submit a medical certificate to the Academic section of their campus. Proxy attendance Proxy attendance is considered serious misconduct and can result in a student losing more than 50% of their attendance. Research scholars Research scholars must attend their research work on all working days and mark attendance, except when they are on sanctioned leave. They are entitled to 30 days of leave per academic year, including medical leave. Promotion Students who are absent in all components of a course evaluation will receive an F grade.

Faculty

Campus Life

Fees and Financial Aid

As I am an cs btech student, the fee for cs here is one lakh per semester plus you will be charged examination fee of 5000 per semester At the time of admission you will have to submit 123000 rupees which includes 100000 tuition fee + 5000 admission fee which will be one time payment only + 5000 examination fee which will be charged further on the basis of per semester + 5000 library deposit which will be refundable+ 3000 alumni fund + 500 e governance fee For ece the tuition fees will be 160000 per year and one time fees will be same as mentioned above For cs ai the tuition fees will be 220000 per year and one time fees will be same as mentioned above There is no such scholarship from the University but you can apply for scholarship to realaince and other companies

Campus Life

1. Sports clubs are available. The facilities are decent. 2. It does have a separate Gym for men and women. It has almost all the facilities. 3. No, a swimming pool is in construction. 4.

Ques. My JEE main rank is 10000. Can I get computer science in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Admin on 31 May 24

Ans. No, you will not get CSE in NIT Trichy with a 10000 JEE main rank. But you will get to pursue CSE from NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, etc. Your rank is quite good but it will not be enough to get admitted to NIT Trichy. However, you might get admitted to other branches in NIT Trichy such as Production, ICE, MME, etc. You can also prepare for JEE Advanced and try your luck with the IITs. Do not lose hope because NIT Tricbhy is not the only best institute in the country to pursue CSE. Also, CSE is not the only course that will lead you to a successful path. There are many other colleges and many other courses that are equally good. Research and take your time. You will surely do great. All the best!Read more

Ques. How does CS at IIIT Hyderabad compare to BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Maulik Raichura on 27 Feb 23

Ans. Comparing IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani cannot be done in terms of with as both are reputed institutes. However, they can be compared on the basis of individual parameters. For instance  Campus: BITS Placements: IIIT Hyderabad  Coding: IIIT Hyderabad Now it’s up to you to decide which factor will affect you the most. In my opinion choosing IIIT Hyderabad over BITS Pilani is a no-brainer as IIIT Delhi is the best when it comes to CSE. Its curriculum is designed exceptionally well. Apart from this, it fairs well in terms of modern technology, infrastructure, faculties, placements, and greater opportunities for higher studies and research. The only institutes that give IIIT Hyderabad an edge are IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore. You are bound to gain a lot of fun experience and knowledge at IIIT Hyderabad and won’t regret joining it ever. However, this definitely does not mean BITS Pilani is not any good. It’s just that the outcomes offered by both institutes are different. If you want to go for MBA or Government Services in the future, BITS Pilani is a good choice as it offers a wider range of opportunities in contrast to CSE at IIIT Hyderabad which is suitable only if you want to stay in this field till the end.Read more

● Top Answer By Suraj Upadhay on 22 Mar 22

Ans. CSE from VIT Vellore is the better option. In fact, after IIITs and BITS, it is considered best for the CS domain. The video below will give you an honest review of VIT Vellore If you have a good command over Data Structure, Algorithm Design, and a bit of competitive coding, you can easily bag lucrative salary packages from reputed companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. According to the placement highlights of recent years, VIT Vellore CSE average CTC stays around INR 7 LPA.Read more

Ques. How is IIIT Vadodara for a Btech in CSE/IT?

● Top Answer By Priyansh Kumar on 16 Mar 23

Ans. If you have a choice between IIIT Vadodara and any other well-established NIT or IIIT for a Btech in CSE/IT, you should go for the latter as IIIT Vadodara lacks proper infrastructure and resources. However, studying B.tech in CSE at IIIT Vadodara is a rigorous course that offers different course content from other colleges, making students good engineers. The professors put in equal amounts of hard work to deliver their content in a professional manner, and there are ample resources available online for students.  IIIT Vadodara is a good option as it provides exposure to both theory and industrial practice, and the institute has improved immensely. The placements are also getting better, with tech giants recognizing IIIT Vadodara and aiding in projects through developer student clubs and Mozilla student clubRead more

Ques. Is MAIT Delhi a good college to study CS? What are the placement stats? How good is the crowd there?

● Top Answer By Nimrit Kapoor on 16 Mar 23

Ans. When it comes to MAIT, it may not have the same coding environment as other colleges like MSIT or BVP. However, it is important to note that things are changing at MAIT, and there are opportunities for students to participate in coding competitions, Hackathons, Competitive Programming, Open Source, and more.  The availability of professors with research backgrounds is limited, and more could be done to expand opportunities for serious project work. The course curriculum at MAIT and IPU is outdated and may include subjects that are not directly relevant to CSE students. Placements at MAIT are strong, with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and Accenture visiting the campus. More than 80% of students get placed, with some students receiving offers as high as 42 LPA from Microsoft. It's important to note that many placements listed by others also include off-campus opportunities obtained through individual skills and efforts. CS and IT students shouldn't have to worry about the crowd, especially if in the first shift, as the current boys-to-girl ratio in IT are approximately 2:1. You will get an overview of the college from the video belowRead more

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more
