Astha Maheshwari Admission Experience

Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Astha Maheshwari: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Astha Maheshwari: “There was a Group Activity. It was conducted offline, on-campus. The group had 10 members and everybody got a chance to speak. The group had to come to a consensus on the given topic. The participant was judged on the basis of how accommodative he/she is in the group while being assertive too.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Astha Maheshwari: “The group had to decide as to whom a scholarship must be given. 5 characters with a description each were given. The group then had to discuss the same and decide the candidate.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Astha Maheshwari: “I tried to have a logical perspective and considered pros and cons. If somebody else had a relevant point which was contradicting my own, I acknowledged that. But if I was sure of my perspective, I kept an assertive tone.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Astha Maheshwari: “There were two panelists, both faculties of the college. It was an offline, in-campus interview. The duration was around 20 minutes. The difficulty was moderate to difficult. They poked me on my understanding of rural management and why I wished to join IRMA. Theoretical questions from graduation and current affairs were also asked.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Astha Maheshwari: “1. Do you have any siblings? Will you tell them to do Business Economics? : I have an elder and a younger sister. I won't tell my younger sister to do this course because it involves a lot of mathematics and statistics and she is afraid of the same. I am no genius either but I still have a hang of these subjects.

  1. Why do you want to pursue Rural Management?: More than half of India's population still lives in rural areas and it would be great to have an understanding of that segment as well. This will give me a broader perspective of the business as well as the developing world. Many companies have their rural division and are also coming up with CSR activities which revolve around rural India. IRMA would be a good opportunity to explore that along with getting the managerial skills.
  2. What is the difference between GDP and GNP?
  3. Have you been to any village? What are the differences that you noticed?
  4. What are your thoughts about the ruling party of Delhi?”

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Astha Maheshwari: “1. It has a balance of corporate and development subjects.

  1. The culture of college is great. They do not believe in imposing unnecessary pressure.
  2. The village field segment which is a part of the curriculum seemed very interesting. It in fact turned out to be a once in a lifetime experience.”

What was the reason for you not converting other colleges? (if any)

Astha Maheshwari: “My CAT percentile was not great. However, I converted all the calls that I received through my XAT score.”
