In an exclusive interview with collegedunia.com, Dr. Neha talks provides a glimpse of SBS and her experience in the education industry.

Experience in Education Industry

I believe, the education sector is a growing industry and the most noble one, as one gets to shape the future of the youngsters. With every step we take, there is a new thing to learn and experience. Having worked in various leadership positions, serving in this sector has turned out to be a great experience for me till date.

Difference between education system in India and abroad

As our country is a developing one, we are still trying to cope up and adopt many advanced technologies available in the market. The idea of online education is now being introduced gradually in the country. There are still many more changes that need we need to bring in our learning practices while comparing with the third world country like China and Korea.

Apart from this, the research practices in our higher education are not as smooth as that of the developed countries. Being a management school, we largely rely on theoretical rather than experiential knowledge.

Placement Opportunities at SBS

Being a business hub, Gujarat is considered to be a pool full of opportunities. The state has various companies and corporate organization of India contributing in the finance development of the region and country at large. It is due to this reason that there is abundance of placement opportunities available for the students.

At SBS, we are fully aware of the skill set required by the industry. We make sure that our course curriculum is as per the industry standards and makes the students a well-groomed citizen.

What makes SBS stands out!

The institute is banked by the 6000 cr. Industry house i.e. Chiripal Group. With this connection, we are first-handily connected with the industry which provide us the direct access of upcoming and ongoing happenings. We are a standalone management institute which makes us lean and agile. The institute is quick to bring any changes required in any field.

The management system of any educational institution is an important factor. Here, we in our full potential, try to build ourselves accordingly. With an MoU signed between the Chiripal Group and Shanti Business School, all the earnings are given back institute for the development of the faculty as well as the student.

Building positive attitude among the students

We have students from all parts of India with different backgrounds, making the environment frolic and positive. This type of multi-cultural mix helps every student to gain exposure and learn different things/ values from each other. I also think, the environment that we promote here helps each student and all the members of the School to become more understanding and open minded.

SBS has well-defined curriculum practices

Shanti Business School have collaborated with industry in 3 different ways:

  • We have experts from every field to design a well-developed curriculum. Also, we have appointed various subject expert from SBS to evaluate and bring necessary changes in the course curriculum.
  • As mandated by the AICTE, 40% of our faculty members are from the industry who teach different courses to students. They give the industry perspective to every student. We make that over case studies are taught to students by this faculty.
  • We provide 8-12 weeks of summer internship to every student. These internships are provided by reputed companies like HDFC, Aditya Birla Group, Asian Paint, etc.

Dr. Sharma talks about her relationship with the students

The students are free to connect or contact me any time of the day. With this, I take regular feedback to understand them better. We have a mentorship program as well and remain in touch with every student through their mentors. I also, interact with the faculty members twice a term and take their feedbacks as well.

Upcoming goals for the Business School

The ultimate goal for SBS is to help reach it in the top 25 private Institute in India. We are also developing the research capabilities of our faculty to match the standards of the education industry. The institute has started International research conference and assistance in research project from the industry as well as government of Gujarat. Being a management institute, we have also started an Entrepreneur cell to encourage the student to develop a full-fledged business incubation center.

Suggestions to young generations

My only advice to the students is to choose a career according to their interests and passion. They must think and introspect before choosing a future. If necessary, they can take counselling to better understand the career choices available. A student must take admission according to their capabilities and should not take a last minute decision.
