What are your responsibilities towards the students in their academic journey?

Responsibility of transacting the content and shaping the personality of prospective teachers” 

Mentoring is practised by all the faculties to ensure the overall development of our trainee teachers. We try to provide educational, vocational and personal guidance to our trainees. We also maintain friendly relations with them so that they do not hesitate while approaching us. We try to develop proper teaching aptitude in our trainees and ensure that they are positively touching the lives of learners. We ensure our trainees are not only good teachers but also good human beings.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students?

“Community programs, ICT training and field visits”

The trainees are provided with the experiences of community outreach programs. These programs include awareness camps, blood donation activities, health check-up camps and so on. The college organizes a student induction program every year for acquainting the students with college life. The college Alumni takes several initiatives to help the freshers by organizing book banks and free coaching. ICT training is given to trainees to keep them abreast with time. Mentoring is provided to learners weekly in several areas as teaching skills, content knowledge, ICT, vocational guidance, innovative teaching, classroom management, etc.


Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Practical training in the domain of child psychology, critical analysis of education committees, and boards of education”

The B.Ed. curriculum is all about extracurricular activities and programs. In all four semesters and all courses, the trainees have to perform fieldwork. 

  • The trainees are given simulated training on teaching skills and real encounters with school life. 
  • Students have to undergo a four-month internship program where they apply the teaching skills acquired in simulated training.
  • Real life experiences about the multidisciplinary approaches are provided through school visits and presentations.
  • Finally, to enhance their professional competencies there are four courses that help them learn about ICT, communication skills, extra-curricular qualities, yoga and meditation.

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practice of the industry?

“By ensuring that all the course learning outcomes and program learning outcomes are attained”

The curriculum is provided by the affiliating University which the Department follows accurately. Our college makes an effort to acquaint the trainee teachers with the up-to-date information about the education sector. Trainees are given hands-on experience on educational technology prescribed in the curriculum. In a way, enabling them with concepts of Blended learning. Reputed educationists and speakers are invited by the college. Our library also has a large collection of print and online journals which help trainees to delve into the world of education.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty?

Teachers are encouraged to participate in faculty development programs, workshops, SWAYAM courses”

The department sends faculties to several professional enrichment programs. These include orientation courses for new teachers and refresher courses for experienced teachers. Department ensures teachers participate in International and National seminars at a regular interval. Faculties are also encouraged to publish articles in reputed journals. The Department hosts several in-house seminars and workshops throughout the year. The Department also has access to e-journals which the faculties can use for their professional enrichment.


What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths?

Our department’s greatest strength is the leadership given by the Head of the Institution. Our HOI ensures all the work is done immediately and there is no lag. He guides teachers regularly and supports us in times of difficulty. He strengthens our confidence by keeping his faith upon us.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for a prosperous career?

“Persistence, hard work and perseverance are the keys to success”

Firstly, love your profession as passion is the key to success. Secondly, respect your profession as that is your identity. Thirdly, never choose an easy road as in long term it will not ensure success. Finally, try to build a strong bond with your colleagues as they are your second family.
