Dr. R. Sridaran is the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Application and Academic Affairs at Marwadi University. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Madurai Kamaraj University. He has more than 25 years of academic experience with leading educational institutions at senior academic administration levels. He has published 50+ research papers in leading journals and chaired many conferences. He has also guided many research scholars in Cloud Computing and Security, IoT, e-learning, and Blockchain. He has initiated the Computer Society of India (CSI), Rajkot Chapter as a founder Chairman. At Marwadi University, he has been instrumental in establishing a finishing school with the funding support of 50L from DST.

What was your vision for the university, and how far have you come in implementing that vision?

"To make this institute the best for students to pursue their dreams"

When I joined this great institution as the Dean of Faculty of Computer Applications in 2012, my aim was to position Faculty of Computer Applications in the first choice amongst the student community. We believe that the best way to reach our goals is to create a culture that gives equal opportunities in terms of academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Adding to that, achievements such as NAAC A+ rating and Centre of Excellence Status have helped us in positioning at the required height.

What is your leadership philosophy?

"I think demonstrative leadership is the most convenient one to adapt"

I genuinely believe that demonstrative leadership is one of the best forms. And I have been attempting to be a good demonstrator to my team and students in every possible way. Whenever possible, I leverage my three decades of academic experience to showcase the faculty members in terms of classroom preparation, teaching – learning, and delivery. Overall, I consider a true leader knows how to demonstrate his skills and use team-skills in the right direction to achieve the desired goals.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"The satisfaction and networking opportunities this field offers have kept me connected with it"

My father was a Mathematics Teacher who guided and inspired a large set of students; which is why teaching is in my blood. The satisfaction that I receive when my students come to me and tell me about their success stories after working with reputed firms and organizations keeps me connected to the education sector.

And when it comes to establishing a friendly relationship with faculty, we frequently interact with them and try to solve their queries on time. This helps us identify the road map of success because it will ultimately help us achieve our common goals if these stakeholders are happy.

It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that when students join us to pursue their dreams, we at Faculty of Computer Applications, Marwadi University start training them from the first year. So by the time they graduate, they have transformed into a competent professional who will be digitally vibrant, will have problem-solving abilities, and will also be able to develop solutions for real-world problems. Apart from this, we work to improve their communication skills and build their personality with qualities like teamwork and leadership. Our main objective is to produce not only extraordinary leaders but also good citizens who are environmentally conscious and can contribute to the benefit of society.

We promote equality in our university and take admission of students who belong from small cities and villages. Fee at Faculty of Computer Applications is quite affordable and would provide the values that have been committed at the time of admission. Any suggestions that you would like to share with the current youth and the aspiring students?

The New Education Policy 2020 has provided many flexibilities for ordinary students, who would benefit greatly. Also then, my advice to the students and our youths that choose an institute that can give wings to your dream through its infrastructure, industrial exposure, internships, and placements programs.
