Hyderabad, August 14, 2019: The 4th Telangana ku Haritha Haram Programme is observed on August 14, 2018 in GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, Sangareddy District Revenue Officers, GITAM Authorities and 700 students participated to fulfill the ‘Green Challenge’ by planting 50,116 saplings. To create awareness about saplings plantation among the students, Sangareddy Administrative Authorities have taken up an initiative.

Sri Vasam Venkateswarlu, Hon’ble Collector, Sangareddy District initiated Haritha Haram by planting a sapling and said the government took up the ambitious programme to increase green cover in the State and thereby protect the environment by planting saplings. Trees are essential for improving the oxygen levels and increased plantation will contribute to water conservation. He motivated the students to nurture their plants and ensure their survival during their stay at the University.

During the last three Haritha Harams, GITAM plated several plants in and around the campus and received ‘Best Haritha Harm’ awards twice from the hands of CII and Hon’ble Governor.
