GITAM’s Faculty of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering conducts an experiment on Rocket Nozzles

Hyderabad, 12^th October 2018: Faculty of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering in GITAM Hyderabad have conducted an experiment that could take the research in rocket nozzles to the next level. The idea is to use a non-explosive solid propellant in place of regular solid propellant which is highly explosive and scantly available. This paves the way for testing the nozzles in an environment that mimics the actual working conditions of the nozzles.

Under the guidance of Dr. V. Hima Bindu and Mr. V.K. Sridhar, the students of final year Aerospace engineering Mr. D.V.S. Siddhartha and Mr. N. Madhukiran have conducted the initial set of experiments.

Prof. N. Siva Prasad (Pro-VC, GITAM Hyderabad branch) visited the test facility when the experiment was performed and congratulated the students for their achievement. Heads of the departments Prof. A. Satya Devi (Aerospace) and Prof. P. Eshwaraiah (Mechanical) were also present. GITAM Hyderabad is mulling on the possibility of developing a large-scale facility to contribute more to the research on rocket nozzles.
