Anitha has been working as an Assistant Professor of Production Logistics & Human Resource Department and she NSS Coordinator of City Campus - SIMATS at Saveetha School of Management, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has done MBA in Production Materials Management, HRM, Marketing and Financial Management and MA in Business Economics, MIs, Macro and Foreign Policy from Annamalai University, PhD in the field of Economics from Presidency College of Madras as part of her education. She is also a Certified General Accountant of domains like Practical Business Accounting, Tally 8.1 and has received Business Taxation Certification from Genesis House of Accounts. In addition to this, she was given the Best NSS Leader Award by the honorable Environment and Climate Change Minister of Tamil Nadu Government Thiru. Siva. V. What will you say are the best practices of courses your institute is offering to students?

"We educate our students on latest market developments, demands and tools and technologies being used there"

 our courses are designed in a manner which enhances knowlrdeges to design and manage effective supply chains in businesses. Students also learn about the best cost optimization techniques in production and logistics, current practices being followed in managing materials, customer service and inventory management etc And effective production management is key in keeping the production process up to date. Hence we also teach students about the well-designed manufacturing and operation practices so that they can easily translate inputs into profits.

we educate our students about market expectations, inventory and human resource management, how to give effective sales pitch, follow standard steps during working in the corporate sector, minimize risks and handle storage, packaging and warehousing of materials.

What are your roles and responsibilities with respect to extension activities in NSS?

NSS volunteers generally work in villages, slums and voluntary agencies for an average of 120 hours during the academic year and as per the fundamental principles of the National Service Scheme, A volunteer is expected to remain in constant touch with the community. And I am involved in the selection of a particular village and slum so that we can send our students to see and analyze ground level realities and issues. Also because students need to stay with the members of the community for 7 days during the Special Camping Programme, making necessary arrangements for them and also ensuring they don't face any issues during these visit also comes under the scope of my responsibilities. And inculcating the thought in students mind that they as NSS volunteers are selected for the social welfare of people without bias and they need to help everyone who is in need so that people can enhance their standards of living and lead a dignified life are my main responsibility of all time.


How is NSS going to help students in the long run?

"Being a member in NSS will help students to become a socially responsible citizen and a leader"

As per rule, a student who is studying at college level or pursuing senior secondary education can become NSS Volunteer and participates in the community service programs. And being an active member of the NSS, our students would get multiple benefits in the long run as we expose them to a wide variety of learning forums and also they can become an accomplished social leader, efficient administrator and a socially responsible person.


How do you build a strong connection between your institute courses and industry demands?

"By taking suggestions from industry experts and Academicians to improve our teaching practices"

As we all can observe that industries are evolving and adopting new technologies and ways of working at a very fast pace nowadays, they also need young and creative minds who can take their business to the next level. Hence to bridge the gaps and make our courses more industry relevant, we regularly connect with professionals and industry experts who are working in the discipline of Production and Logistics to get an overview of what their expectations are from our Graduates. Apart from this, we explain each subject thoroughly and in depth to students followed by experiments and practicals which are conducted on a regular basis and students are also provided with hands-on training sessions. So this is how we ensure a connection between our courses and industry demands.


How are you accountable for Production Logistics and how do you improve your teaching methods?

"I use case studies to teach students and also organize quizzes, workshops and conferences regularly"

I have adopted a wide variety of Teacher-Centered Methods and Learner-Centered Methods to improve my teaching pedagogies. And I use case studies, roleplay, simulation games and activities, business games, concept of peer tutoring and community learning methods, group discussions, brainstorming sessions, audios and videos to deliver the best knowledge to students. In addition to this, I regularly assign research based projects to students on individual and group basis, organize industrial visits and hands-on training sessions, business quizzes, workshops and conferences as and when required. 


Which career options would be available for students after successfully completing courses from your college?

In today's time, deep knowledge of logistics and production is the first step towards meeting the critical business needs and building the foundation for an amazing career.
