Prof. Ganesh Apte is currently working as Head of Operations Dept. at Atharva Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He has 35 years of corporate experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Import-Export, etc. Serving several organizations like Balsara, Dabur, Anchor, he holds a postgraduate degree in MBA (Operations) and International Supply Chain Management from ITC, Geneva. Also, he has attended many national and international seminars and conferences.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Teaching, guiding and research learning”

I take part in grooming students for professional roles by dissipating management knowledge and attributes. Also, I make students aware of the new developments and best practices in industry that will help them in future. Developing an enthusiastic Operations Team of faculties and students, and encouraging research are my roles as a Head.

We offer PGDM – Post Graduate Diploma in Management, approved by AICTE & MMS- Master of Management Studies with specialization in Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations and System (IT) and Part time MBA like MMM, MFM, MHRDM affiliated to Mumbai University and recognized by AICTE, accredited B+ by NAAC. The importance of Supply Chain Management has been realized all over the world, especially due to this pandemic situation. Supply Chain is the backbone of every big or small industry. We offer national-level industrial visits, excel training programs, mentor-mentee programs and summer internships to our students for acquiring industry-relevant knowledge and skills. Career Management cell for soft skill development, mock interview, mock stock training, etc. is being utilized. Experts talks, Leadership talks, Alumni speaks help students to gain a better perspective of the outside world. The curriculum at AIMS is reviewed annually, feedback of industry leaders and alumni are taken into account. Since programs are affiliated with Mumbai University, we have to follow the guidelines of the University but the latest knowledge is shared by experts through seminars and workshops.

Students are prepared through the Mentor-Mentee Program, in which they are helped to improve their skills and understand their areas of improvement. They take up internships also which help them to understand real-life situations. Further, they are encouraged to participate in events of the college and inter-college competitions, debate, quiz, etc. They are provided opportunities to organize programs in the institute as well so that they can develop their leadership and management skills. The faculties are drawn from industry and well versed with practical problems faced in the job, they share real-life examples, best practices in corporate and new trends in the industry. By visiting industries for training and live projects, and undergoing internships help bring practical exposure to students. Industry leaders and experts are invited to share their knowledge with the students where students ask questions, feedback from students is also sought. Moreover, faculty development programs are conducted by the college to enhance the skills of the faculty and encourage them to do research. Teaching is learner-oriented to expose and prepare students for industry roles by sharing industrial experiences, case studies, role plays, video films, interacting with professionals, etc.
