Our college is offering a full time B. Sc. Degree course in the discipline of Hospitality. In addition to this, we are also providing 3 months Diploma programs which are not only available and accessible for college students but also for students of other colleges.

What would you say are the best practices of the courses your institute is offering to students?

"We prepare our students for the hospitality industry by giving them real time assignments"

Our college does have several in house programs for students, for example earn while you learn. Along with this, counters like Milagres College Delight Catering where we encourage our students to prepare and sell food items by themselves. This seems very simple, but is very effective practice, as students learn many things through this activity, firstly they learn to cook, then how to take orders and how to address customers and how to serve them. Overall, whatever is required to work in a Hospitality industry, students can learn here easily.

How does this B. Sc. (HS) program ensures the future preparedness of students?

While teaching our students the B. Sc. (Hospitality), we make sure we give them the best theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. We conduct a wide variety of sessions, few to improve their communication and presentation skills, few to make them more confident and few to make them industry ready. In addition to all this, we supplement the subjects knowledge of our students through additional Diploma or value-added courses. It gives me immense joy while sharing that for the last two years our students have secured the top three ranks at University level. 

How did you train your faculty to deliver this program to the students?

"By upgrading their skills through faculty development programs in collaboration with industry experts"

Whenever a new semester begins, we organize something known as faculty development programs where highly trained motivators, instructors and trainers educate our faculties on different trending topics of the industrial world and also tell them how to handle students and how to effectively communicate with them. Because students come from different streams, perceptions and culture, so sometimes a gap is created between students and faculty members, and our main aim remains to bridge that gap anyhow.

How do you build an industry connectedness with this B. Sc. program? 

"Through rigorous training programs and industrial visits which are conducted regularly"

The specialization we offer in the B. Sc. course is Hospitality, and students can easily find good jobs in reputed hotels after finishing our course. And for the purpose of building an industry connectedness with the program and to make our students understand more about the industry and how they can fit in, we offer rigorous industrial training to them. 

What challenges are you facing while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

"Competition from our peer colleges is biggest hurdle for us currently"

The competition we face from other colleges is the biggest roadblocks for us. So, to cope up with this we keep upgrading our education quality, practices and processes so that we can benefit students in the best possible way. We also make sure that we bring out the best out of our students and they can perform up to their potential. And our emphasis remains on providing both theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to students.
