What are your roles and responsibilities?

"To ensure smooth execution of classes, exams and co-curricular activities"

I am accountable to ensure that all faculty members take their classes regularly and resolve students' queries, take revision classes and also conduct the Midterm and End Term exams. Coming to the next responsibility is to ensure students are involved in various extracurricular activities. To conduct PTMs in each semester with parents to discuss the students' performance in exams and to organize mock interviews as part of our placement exercise also comes under my roles.

What keeps you connected with the education sector?

"My urge to continuously upgrade my skills"

My passion as an educator is actually the constant learning of the current trends for high-quality teaching. I don’t just teach students but also keep up-skilling for better academic dealing with the students. The concepts and economic conditions keep on changing dynamically and being in the education sector keeps me motivated to remain updated so that the students can be made aware of the same on a regular basis.

What is your leadership philosophy?

"A true leader keeps the team motivated, lead them with optimism and focuses on solutions rather than problems"

My leadership style is rooted in a strong set of values and principles. I feel that the leadership philosophy needs to be personal, unique and authentic. My leadership philosophy consists of the following core principles:

  • Personal leadership philosophy with examples worth studying: I treat my team members with care and respect and it is very helpful in a number of ways. I feel that engaged and motivated employees are more productive and more likely to remain loyal to an organization.
  • Leading with optimism: Leading with optimism improves the chances of leading a successful team. Focusing on everyone’s innate potential gives me more opportunities to leverage the unique talents of my employees.
  • Leading as a facilitator-learner leader: I have the vision of what we are trying to accomplish and hence I make sure to create an environment for our people to make the vision come to reality. As leaders, we have to adapt to new and unwanted changes in order to stay competitive and effective.
  • Focusing on solutions as a leader: I always feel enthusiastic about challenges and I see those hurdles as new opportunities to develop unique solutions.
  • Leading with team spirit: I also cultivate a working environment in which the team members feel joyful and at ease. We find ways to prevent unnecessary stress from creeping in.

"It is comprised of guest lectures, corporate tours and latest training"

We follow the curriculum prescribed by our University. Also, we are well aware that along with theoretical knowledge of a particular subject, practical exposure is equally important to strengthen students' concepts. And for this, we invite corporate managers from various companies to deliver Guest lectures. Lastly, we arrange tours and visits for our students to the Hotels, Design Studios, Media houses and IT companies to establish a better understanding in them of the corporate environment.

These students are also provided scholarships based on their merit in 12th Standard and financial assistance for books and other study materials depending on their economic status.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"To enhance relations with industry partners and promote culture of excellence"

We feel that the demand for quality education and the higher educational Institutes will have to play a pivotal role in developing new courses and providing education in many new fields. "We help students to become the best professionals and citizens"

JIMS is a very reputed and well-known brand in the higher education sector in Delhi / NCR for the last 28 years. Our main aim is not only to offer the 3 years Degree courses but also help our students to develop their overall personality. And to make all our students job-ready, we inculcate in all of them the urge to be better speakers, communicators, analyzers, initiators and well-groomed coordinators. Lastly, to instill good social and cultural values in them, we encourage them to take part in activities like Rotaract Club activities, plantation drives, helping the poor and old aged people campaigns, etc.

"Our location, faculties and industry partners"

Our campus is serene, peaceful, surrounded by a green cover and it's away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our industry interface is very strong through which we are in a position to arrange summer and winter internships/Placements for our students.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, for higher education in general?

"Emerging technologies, business models and the rat race to earn a degree rather t knowledge"

I strongly believe that the innovative zeal of modern-day students is a big challenge for teachers. With more automated, digitized and fluid job markets, today’s higher education systems are quickly becoming incompatible with the future we are looking towards. Some of the challenges for higher education sector are:-

  • Increasing the need for lifelong learning

The students need to continually learn and update their skills in order to stay relevant in the digital economy.

  • Evolving the needs and expectations of the students

All of us know that today’s youth entering the higher education sector has a completely different point of departure than previous generations. Being highly tech-savvy, technology is fully integrated into most aspects of their lives and so the teaching pedagogy is to be fully integrated with technology.

  • Emerging Technologies and Business Models

Even though the pace of change in the education sector is generally slower than in other more profit-driven sectors. Fast-growing innovators in educational technologies and the education industry are already challenging the status quo by structurally undermining the long-established business models of higher education.

  • Towards a “skills over degrees” model

The challenge is to make students richer in obtaining the right skills along with the Degree. Many companies are actively shifting focus away from degrees to new ways of measuring employability as a consequence of the fast-changing nature of work.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your Institute?

"Through Mentor-Mentee program"

To establish a good relationship with students, I believe that academics must be supplemented with various co-curricular activities for their overall development. And for this, our Institute arranges mentoring sessions under the Mentor-Mentee program in which students can discuss their individual problems with the faculty members and seek guidance and counseling from them. Each class has a faculty coordinator who keeps in touch with all the students in the class to solve their problems and also guides them in their career development if required.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Avoid procrastination and keep upgrading your skills"

Today’s youth are active, energetic, more aware, have high mobility, innovative and also ambitious. However, I would like to advise the youth of today with the following suggestions:

  • Procrastination to be avoided

The students should look for the right opportunities for gaining some practical experience before they graduate. They should indulge in internships, live projects during college for practical exposure.

  • Expand your knowledge

The students must expand their skills and knowledge as companies look for candidates with the ability to work in diverse settings.

  • Stay up-to-date

Staying current on technology and industry trends will give them an advantage over other applicants. A visit to the college library should be made a habit.

  • Pay attention to Skills Development

The students in this fast-changing world should focus more on developing skills like communication, public speaking, finance building, etc.
