UnitedWorld Institute of Design (UID) offers B. Design, M. Design and PhD courses in the area of design. These industry-driven programs are designed with strong professional emphasis. Affiliated to Karnavati University, the institute offers courses that provide insights of individual and collective creativity in theoretical assessment, design practice, curatorial evaluations or artistic considerations.

UID, Gandhinagar selects candidates based on their UID (DAT Design Aptitude Test) scores. UID DAT is a national-level entrance test conducted once a year in the pen-paper mode for admission to B.Des and M.Des programs. The test will be held at 23 test centres across the country.

UID is among the selected band of design schools to receive academic membership of the topmost global design associations: WDO, Cumulus Association, IFFTI (International Federation of Fashion Technology Institutes), ADI (Association of Designers of India), Association of Commonwealth Universities, and IXDA (Interaction Design Association). 

Admission Eligibility Criteria

• For B. Design (UG)
  • Admission into an undergraduate program at UID requires successful completion of a minimum 10+2 pass/appearing (Any Stream), with a minimum 50% aggregate score from any recognized higher secondary school board.
• For M. Design (PG)
  • Admission into a postgraduate program at UID requires successful completion of 10+2+3/4 pass/appearing (Bachelor’s degree of any discipline) with a minimum 50% aggregate score from any recognized institution or university.

UID Admission 2022: Evaluation Process

The evaluation criterion of UID's admission process for B. Des and M. Des. Programmes is of two tiers:

• Tier 1: Design Aptitude Test (UID-DAT), UID-DAT is conducted at various test centres in approx. 24 cities across India.
• Tier 2: Situation Test and Portfolio Evaluation (ST-PE), Based on UID-DAT result (Tier 1) the shortlisted candidates for B.Des. and M.Des. are called for Situation Test and Portfolio Evaluation (Tier 2) to Ahmedabad campus.

UID DAT 2021 question paper will include 4 sections for UG courses and 3 sections for PG courses admission. 

UG Exam includes following sections:

UID DAT 2022: Admit Card 

UID DAT 2022 admit card will be available for downloads at least a week prior to the commencement of exams. Candidates will be required to download the admit card from the official website of the university once it's available. 

Note: On the exam day, candidates need to carry valid ID proof: Voter ID/ pan card/ Driving License apart from the UID DAT 2022 admit card.

UID DAT 2022: Result

UID DAT 2021 results will be declared within one week of conducting exams. The cutoffs will be prepared based on seats available for a particular program and the number of applicants. Moreover, cutoffs will vary with the courses applied for. 

UID DAT 202: Counselling Process

After the results are out, qualified candidates have to attend the Situation Test (ST) and Portfolio Evaluation (PE) which will be conducted at the Gandhinagar campus of UID (Karnavati University). 

Students will be shortlisted based on their scores in Situation Test (ST) and Portfolio Evaluation (PE). Such candidates will be intimidated through an email to attend counselling sessions. Physical attendance is compulsory for counselling, the institute will not provide any relaxation in this regard.

Note: UID has an intake capacity of 420 students across 8 specializations at the undergraduate level; 80 students across 4 specializations at the postgraduate level. The intake for B.Des GDP and B.Des IM is 60 seats each.
