What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Constantly challenging and innovative approaches”

An exciting wave of innovation requires constant learning. As an educator, I don’t just teach students; but constantly challenge myself to learn the latest technologies, generate new ideas and go for innovation. This challenge enables me to see things in a new light and take that extra mile towards cutting edge performance. Teaching and research are my passion; because of these, I am into the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Reliability is the critical quality of successful academic leadership”

I think of my role as a leader, rather than administrator or management, is more regarding trust building and values. What I mean by leadership is striving to use my influence to nurture, facilitate and inspire my colleagues for overall betterment of everyone. I have learned the importance of keeping an open mind and enabling other colleagues to pursue their good ideas in a shared vision. This is as important as the delivery of one’s ideas.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University are?

“Planning and coordination for development and smooth workflow”

My primary focus is to coordinate for broad policy issues about the University’s functioning and to have a better interaction amongst the offices of Director, Registrar and other sections of administration for smooth functioning. I lay my responsibility to coordinate matters about administration, establishment and budgetary management by interacting with various sections. The most significant pressure on me is to ensure that I contribute to making my University more remarkable than the sum of its parts despite the internal and external constraints. Also, to identify industry and institutions for collaboration and involvement of University in various association and academic bodies hereby increasing practical exposure and form a global network of professionals.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in India?

“Lack of sufficient services and proper execution of education tools”

Management of colleges in our country faces over-centralization, bureaucratic structures and absence of responsibility, straightforwardness, and polished methodology. Because of the increment in the number of associated institutes and students, the weight of traditional elements of universities has essentially expanded, and the centre spotlight on scholastics and research is weakened. Ensuring quality in higher education, poor infrastructure, inadequate physical facilities, inadequate focus on research and the inability of the state educational system to attract and retain well-qualified teachers have been posing challenges to education for many years.

How do you tend to expose students to real-world challenges?

“Passionate and more inculcating learning activities enhancing growth”

Students are being motivated and kept energetic through various activities and skill sessions that are organized throughout the year. We arrange for them various technical events involving guest lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences, quiz competitions, other rigorous academic activities. Students actively participate in creative arts like music, drama and visual arts, and tend to be open-minded, eccentric and think outside the box. Several projects and internships are offered to students to show up their dynamic capability, dedication, and teamwork and prepare them to enter the workforce. A number of cultural, athletic and community volunteering activities are also being organized to demonstrate their social skills and in a coordinated and well-planned manner.

How do you guide your students to survive in such a competitive scenario?

“Directing and driving their confidence to enhance skills”

Confidence comes with knowledge of the latest technologies, and understanding requires continuous learning and upgrading of one’s skills. We prepare them for all the challenges and focus on boosting their motivation and inspiring them by maintaining a perspective of staying focused on long-term goals. We aid them with all necessary requirements to be professional in all sorts of things, be it personal bias, political views, religious beliefs, and emotional issues. Participating in sports is a great way to showcase your teamwork, leadership skills, and emphasis on athletics and physical fitness.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Stay focused on the big picture”

Always follow your dreams. If you are doing something you are passionate about, you are just naturally going to succeed, and a lot of other things will happen that will lead you towards the fulfilment of your dream. Don’t panic when things go wrong or get distracted when stuff doesn’t go according to plan.
