Prof. Ankan Bandopadhyay is presently working as Faculty at Ecole Intuit Lab, Kolkata. Holding a MFA degree, his artwork has been displayed in various national, International exhibitions, private art galleries and organizations like CIMA, Emami Art, Studio21, Maya Art Space, Art Fair (Italy) etc. With a rich experience as a professor, guest examiner and freelance illustrator with many renowned institutions and organizations, he took part in many workshops and curated art exhibitions and talk shows. Also, Mr. Ankan has received an award from UNFPA, (New Delhi), Royal Academy (Karnataka) and certificate of merit from KCC (Kolkata).

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Art as a professional form of commitment”

It is a fact that I prefer to be associated with educational institutions with regularly being engaged in the commercial sector and as an artist by profession. I have found that the world of Art is very big and the greater part of it is still unveiled. Art can contribute to the development of the human race on a larger scale than now, in creating more enthusiastic and mentally fit youth. I like to impart this concept in the minds of the new generation and serve them better in much more ways. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure that the best practice of industry?

“Well-designed set of activities for full potential growth”

The curriculum of the Ecole Intuit Lab is designed keeping in view the demand for jobs in the market. The students are given training in different branches of applications of Art like Graphic design, Game Art, Fine Art etc. so that they become eligible and competent in the world of professionals. The Art faculty in the institution is managed and dealt with in a comprehensive way giving a holistic approach to activities in the institute. We coordinate workshops, seminars, symposiums to boost innovative skills and creativity among students. 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Inculcating practical innovativeness and artistic skills”

As a professor I keep watch upon the application of Art in all sectors of business and industries in modern days. At present the industries produce household goods in conformity with modern lifestyle. I keep a constant watch to develop both skill and intellect in students so that they can be more innovative. We have given students wide freedom and opportunity in becoming a successful artist and designer to keep a pace with the challenging and ever changing practical world. I make my students involved in the outdoor study of nature, and life sketches to correlate reality with artistic approaches. 

What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“Wide perspectives for development of students in the field of art”

The Institution is not merely a commercial institution in the field of fine arts and designing, but possibly a pioneer in the private sector to engage in the spread of art among the younger generation. Students of this institution get a commendable knowledge in the modern streams of Arts namely Graphics Design, Game Design, and Illustration etc. helping them get employment at the first place. What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in India?

“Devising contemporary methodologies of digital world”

The world is changing very fast; it is now the digital age that has taken over several sectors including education with modern means of teaching and learning using technology. However, the general higher education in our country to some extent is lagging behind in incorporating these technological ways and getting students ready for the same. We definitely need certain concrete guidelines and protocols to ascertain the practice of modern learning and preparing younger children for the change. Ecole Intuit Lab has been established keeping in view the days to come. The institute has been able to foresee the changes to come in future. Students are taught in such a way that it enables them to meet the demand not merely of the present days but also for the days in future.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students? 

“Follow art as a reflection of life”

Art is being practiced by the human race from its primitive stage. I understand and believe that art has no less contribution than science to bring the world from where it had been to what is now. I advise my students to shake off all hesitation and rise up according to the demand of the age, and practice art as a religion. It will give you a ray of hope in tough times and help improve the intellectuality of mankind giving life a better meaning.
