Dr Sandeep Dhyani is a Professor at Beehive Group of Colleges, Dehradun. He has completed his B.Sc and M.Sc in Botany, PG Diploma in Biodiversity and Ph.D. in Ecology and Botany. He has worked in different funded Research Projects as JRF and SRF. He has more than 15 years of research and teaching experience and has participated in national and international seminars, workshops and conferences. He has more than 18 National and international research publications to his credit. Also, he has supervised more than 60 M.Sc. and M.Phil. dissertations to date.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

The faculty of an educational institution plays a vital role in the all-around development of the students. As a personality developer, learner, motivator, and sometimes as a friend, faculty plays a crucial role in the development of an individual.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Engaging students and colleagues in interactive meetings" 

It is hard for faculty to build strong relationships with students when they are taking multiple classes on the same day. However, it can be achieved through interactive meetings with students after classes to find out what, when, and where they require assistance. In order to maintain healthy relationships with colleagues, it is important to value and respect their suggestions, differences, and to be helpful at all times.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

Study tours, experiments and industrial programs”

Every subject should emphasize the practical approach over theoretical knowledge. In addition to frequent study tours, experiments are conducted in fields and laboratories. Students can enhance their practical knowledge by participating in industry-oriented programs and practising foundation skills.


How does your department prepare students for Higher education and placements?

“Interview sessions and skill development programs”

For final year students, departments and colleges should organize skill development programs and interview sessions. These will help place them in reputed organizations and select them for higher education. The result will be the transformation of college students into skilled professionals and more qualified applicants to higher education.

What are the strategies you use to help students deal with the intense competition in the world?

Today, competition is a significant aspect of life. It can be motivating for students but can also produce frustration, stress, and pressure due to the high frequency of competition. We can help students to overcome the above situations by providing a positive environment, fostering healthy competition behaviours, and focusing on performance.


Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“In addition to yoga, meditation, and the NSS activities for holistic development”

The best extracurricular activities for students are Yoga, meditation, and the national service scheme. In addition to exciting and educational activities, NSS provides community services such as yoga and meditation, which are beneficial for students' mental and physical health.


How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Our professors are upskilled through FDP's, extensive fieldwork, and industry visits"

In order to gain a deeper understanding of a subject, learners and teachers are required to conduct frequent fieldwork and industry visits.
