Mrs. Anu Tharika has been working as the Principal and Assistant Professor in the Animation Department of Chennai Animation College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has an amazing 10 years of experience in academics. And she is specialized in Animation, Graphics and 2D Design and her areas of interest are game design and interactive computer graphics. In addition to this, she has published many research papers in International and National journals.

Being a Faculty of Animation Department at CAC, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"It is to provide them good quality education and ethical values"

As a faculty, my main responsibility is to offer the finest quality education to students and instill good values in them. Apart from this, supervising and counseling students for their higher studies and career, providing them required training programs and personality development sessions also comes under the scope of my responsibilities. 

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By being a good communicator, friend and support system for them"

I do use an amalgamation of different techniques to ensure a happy and healthy relationship with my dear students and fellow faculties. I never leave any opportunity to interact with my students outside classes, listen to their issues and queries with full attention and patience to give them the solution at the earliest basis. Also, I ensure they participate in college activities and showcase their skills. Last but not the least, I am always open to any kind of feedback or suggestions coming from them. 

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"By keeping ourselves updated with latest industrial trends and educational development"

For the purpose of enforcing an industry driven approach towards subjects, we keep ourselves updated with what's happening in the outside competitive world be it educational field or industrial world. In addition to this, we keep the field's software updated to make our students proficient in the Animation domain. 

Which best practices are offered by your department to the students to help them gain necessary skills?

"We regularly encourage to explore new things on their own and guide them whenever required"

We never spoon-feed our students, instead we regularly interact with them to understand things from their point of view. And it helps a lot in updating our teaching practices and providing best to them in return. Apart from this, we regularly motivate them to upgrade their skills and offer necessary guidance and support for their regular studies, assignments and projects with the support of our faculty.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum of your college to make it befitting for the students?

"We update the curriculum on regular basis by including latest courses and training"

We draft and update the curriculum of our college after rigorous analysis of what industries are expecting from our students. Also stakeholders, teachers and industry experts are involved during planning phases as it helps them to remove the unnecessary subjects and courses and include latest courses in curriculum for the benefit of students and to develop new skills in them. 

What are your views upon the placements and higher education of students from your department?

"Placement statistics of our college is very amazing and we strive to maintain it in upcoming time"

I believe we have been successful in achieving our mission of providing quality education and job security to students, so definitely we are doing great in both the areas. And we always ensure to stay compliant with the industry and academic standards and design our curriculum in such a way that it could reflect the industrial development and demands in the truest sense.

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

"By providing them necessary training, apprenticeship and assigning projects and assignments"

Our students who are pursuing different courses with us, undergo rigorous training programs and internships where they work with renowned companies as Project Managers, Developers or Designers to get real time exposure. Also we keep motivating our students and guide them whenever they get stuck somewhere.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"Various kinds of sports, games, technical and cultural events are organized by us regularly"

We firmly believe that co-curricular activities are equally important as academics to keep students mentally strong and enhance their skills, hence a wide variety of activities are regularly organized by us including sports activities, technical and cultural events along with seminars, webinars, workshops and industry interaction sessions.

Our college provides industry and employment oriented education to students and equal focus is given to both theoretical and practical knowledge in our college to strengthen core concepts of students.
