Vice President to attend 4th Graduation Ceremony of PGDM-ABM at ICAR-NAARM

Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest on the Graduation Ceremony of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri-Business Management) which is being conducted at National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) on May 14, 2022 at NAARM auditorium. Around 163 students belonging to four batches from 2017-22 would be awarded Degree during the ceremony.

The PGDM-ABM course is offered by the Academy since 2009 is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD), Government of India. So far, 12 batches completed successfully wherein 334 students passed out. The current batch (2021-23) is with 57 (29 boys and 28 girls) students.

The minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM-ABM is a Four- year bachelor degree from any Agricultural University or Institution in any discipline related to Agriculture and allied sciences recognized by ICAR. The students are admitted into the program based on their scores obtained in CAT/ CMAT examination of current year, short essay writing, group discussion, personal interview, academic record and work experience. 

The pedagogy consists of a blend of class-room lectures, assignments, case studies, interactive discussions, and extensive hands-on experiences. Program delivery also includes participation in seminars/workshops, and other exercises including field visits. Considerable emphasis is placed on self-learning and group interactions by the participants. Thus, teamwork forms an essential part of the learning process.

The course is a full time two-year residential program with six trimesters. The curriculum includes a Summer Internship of 6-8 weeks' duration and a Project Work of 13 weeks’ duration. It also comprises of course work of 100 credits. Besides, there are other non-credit courses as well as experiential learning and self-learning modules. Thus, the complete curriculum comprises of Credit Courses, Non-credit Courses, Yoga, Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, Summer Internship, Live Projects and Final Project Work.

Features of the programme is as follows:

  • The course is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
  • Experienced guest faculty as well as renowned personalities are invited for our regular courses as well as for erudition lectures.
  • The Academy has Business Incubation Centre called “a-IDEA”, which mentors Agri-Startups. It has been awarded with the ‘Best Emerging Incubator’ by Ministry of S&T. The students get opportunity of direct interaction with the entrepreneurs and practical learning from them. 
  • The campus is well equipped air-conditioned modern classrooms, Seminar Halls, Auditoriums, etc.
  • Campus has high speed broadband facility with seamless Wi-Fi connectivity. The Academy is equipped with Computer Labs, Geographical Information System (GIS) Lab, Library with over 35,000 books, 174 reputed journals as well as many digital resources and databases like Indiastat, CMIE, EBSCO, CERA, ISI Web of Knowledge, Proquest and many more.
  • The Academy has Health Centre to take care of medical issues of the students. Students get the benefit of Yoga classes every day in the morning.

The students have various clubs which help in their all-round development right from intellectual and skill development to bringing responsible citizenship among them. The clubs are “Manthan” -The Agribusiness forum; “Sanskriti”- Event Management & Cultural Club; “Tarang”-The Entrepreneurship Club; “Prakriti”-Caressing Nature, “Darpan”- Catechizing Curiosity & Intellect; and “Kreeda”- Sport & Fitness Club. We have very strong and vibrant Alumni, that connects, guides and prepares students for the industry.

This programme has achieved 100 percent placement since its inception. Till date, around 80 leading agribusiness companies have recruited PGDM-ABM students of ICAR-NAARM. The placements witnessed increased CTC in subsequent years as well as Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from companies where students undergo their summer internship, which is a 2-months hands-on module in the industry after completing first year of the programme. The CTC of the students in the industry has also increased over the time. The average salary of first batch which was offered during campus placement was ₹4.58 lakhs per annum. This has now been increased to ₹11.51 lakhs per annum for the first 2 batches recording an impressive annual growth of 12.2 percent.
