Dr. A . Shyam Sunder is a Principal and HOD of Balaji Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He did M.Pharm from Annamalai University and Ph.D from Acharya Nagarjuna University. He is an active member of professional bodies like IPA, IPS, ISPOR, and SPS. He has achieved the best teacher award and has a rich experience of more than 15 years of experience in teaching, administration and institutional development. Also, he has attended and organized several national level workshops, symposiums and conferences, and has contributed to the society with his efforts in the education sector.

What are the factors that connect you with the education sector?

“Organize research works and contribute to the progress of society”

I have been serving as Head of Department for more than a decade. Several research works and papers were organized by me for the society's progress. I have attended several national-level workshops and conferences. It helps me to contribute to the education sector. 

How does the curriculum of the Balaji Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences ensure best industrial practice?

“Provide industry-related concepts in a practical way for students”

I believe in preparing students with practical experience. It will give an immense idea of the consistent practice of the industry. Concepts used in practical experience provoke the passion of pupils. Our college management provides courses and curricula relevant to the industry. The management discusses courses related to outside world competition and growing technologies. The curriculum on campus helps in students' growth technically and practically.

Any advice you would like to give for a prosperous career of students?

“Think of yourself, speak up and choose an enjoyable job”

I always ensure that students are on the right path and encourage them to go outside of their comfort zone. Think of yourself as a lifelong learner and speak up. It is necessary to find a job you enjoy. I suggest every student focus on their strengths and be a team player. They can work hard to enjoy fruitful results in the future. My best advice is to live in your personal life, never let yourself down in any circumstances, face every challenge patiently and fearlessly. Being slow in the practical world is false. Hence, work hard and win the race fast.

How do you implement plans for marketing and administration of Balaji Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences?

“Preplan the matters and provide immense teaching techniques in the campus”

I always plan that things should be done after and implementing it ensures the best results for the college. Preplan helps a lot for certain matters. The results and achievements of students directly show effectiveness. It helps to flourish our marketing. Our immense teaching techniques and efforts result in getting jobs for students in MNC’s and Industries.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“Lead, manage and develop achievements for campus and pupils”

My primary role is to provide strong academic leadership in the college. I lead, manage and develop the department to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence. Moreover, I want to be an active member both as faculty and Head. I should be a facilitator and mentor for students. The fulfillment of the university's responsibilities includes admission, instruction, progress, and examination of candidates. It is essential to recruit eligible staff, secure good academic results, and provide structural teaching with passion. 

What is the admission rate in your college compared to last year?

“Campus has a 99% admission rate compared to the previous year”

Admissions in college are increasing every year. In the previous year, we had a 94% admission rate and it has increased to 99 %. Moreover, 2-3 seats are remaining. It is common in every college there might be few vacant seats. These vacant seats will be filled according to the reports given by our counselors. Several students are looking for admission to our college this year.

What extracurricular programs do you organize to enhance students' skills to face real-world challenges?

“Clubs, seminars, conferences and training programs available for students”

Our college prioritizes both the mental and physical activities of the students. Several activities are conducted every week. Each club has a faculty mentor to guide students for the activities. We conduct seminars and conferences to acquire knowledge of research and healthcare professionals. Moreover, we provide training programs that expose industrial experience and extracurricular activities. Events will be conducted to honor the faculty and students every year.
