Of these 80,000 candidates, nearly 50,000 candidates have accepted the seats allocated to them, till 10 am on October 20. Haneet Gandhi, Dean of Admission at DU said that the university allocated 80,164 seats across various categories. However, only 49,620 candidates had accepted the seats allocated to them.

Further, the candidates have a three-day window from October 19 to October 21 to accept the allocated seats. This year, the university prepared the first merit list on the basis of CUET scores.

The provision for acceptance of a particular allocated seat will be valid only for the round in which the seat was allocated to the candidate. The colleges will be able to verify and approve the online applications from October 19 to October 22.

The first seat allocation list marks the beginning of the third and last phases of the admission process. For the first round of CSAS allocation and admission, the deadline for online payment of admission fees is October 24.

The University has directed the candidates that they must ensure that they have secured their admission to the seat allocated to them, whenever offered and only those candidates who are admitted to a course in a college will be able to opt for upgradation in subsequent rounds.

According to the latest DU reports, more than 1.5 lakh applicants marked their college and course preferences till the last date for Phase II last week

In the meantime, the Supreme Court has ordered St. Stephen's College to adhere to the admissions process set forth by Delhi University.

The University of Delhi (DU) welcomed the Supreme Court's decision and assured applicants that there would be no problems and that undergraduate admissions would proceed according to schedule.

Earlier, the merit list was supposed to be out on October 18, but was postponed to October 19 after the Supreme Court announced that it will hear the plea by St. Stephen’s College on October 19.

The Delhi University College has appealed against the Delhi High Court's ruling that St Stephens College may not conduct interviews in addition to using CUET scores for admissions.

The DU college intends to evaluate a candidate using both the interview and the CUET score, but the state high court had mandated that the college only consider the results of the CUET.

Meanwhile, the university is now conducting admissions on the basis of CUET scores for the first time, which has also delayed the start of the academic year. The first semester will begin in November 2022 and end in March 2023, per the university's schedule.
