IIM Indore Inaugurates its New Batches of EFPM and EFPMG Programs


New Delhi: IIM Indore hosted its 12th batch of the Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) and the 2nd batch of the Executive Fellow Programme in Management & Governance (EFPMG) on Monday, July 04, 2022.

Prof Himanshu Rai, director of IIM Indore, inaugurated the batches. The chief guest for the occasion was Lt. Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey, Commandant - AWC. Prof Abhishek Mishra, Chair - FPM, Prof Biswanath Swain, Prof. Ajit Phadnis, Faculty, IIM Indore, and Col. Gaurav Rathaur, Army War College, were also present. Prof. Rai in his speech addressed the importance of a business school in nation-building and how academics and research scholars can contribute to the same.

He stated, “Earlier business schools focused merely on creating, advancing, and disseminating knowledge. However, with enormous learning sources available today, including the internet, we as educationists need to curate knowledge. We need to practice what we preach, implement the theoretical learnings we impart to the students, and also focus on solving real-life problems."

Prof. Rai further stated that it is time to consider data not only as information but also in terms of academic potential. He recommended the incoming class to select something they are enthusiastic about and pursue it as a research topic since it will help them tackle problems they care about.

“Make the right choices. You may often be tempted to take a shortcut while you struggle to balance your academic pursuits and jobs. You might be able to achieve your goals, but you won’t feel content. Make sure that if you do something, you give your cent percent to it”, he concluded.

With its collaborations with the government and administrative bodies across the country, IIM Indore has been proactive in finding solutions and contributing to the improvement of traffic in various cities, empowering women in terms of financial independence, assisting school teachers in time management, and much more. 

EFPM and EFPMG programmes of IIM Indore were created in accordance with the aim to address real-world concerns faced by the country. While EFPM would bring in corporate scholars, EFPMG permits serving army officers to pursue their academic objectives, and the programmes allow research scholars to work on projects that benefit the nation as a whole.

According to Lt. Gen. Devendra Pratap Pandey, Commandant - AWC, India has emerged in every sector in the world arena and is capable of meeting future and global problems. The Indian army has also contributed significantly to the building of the Indian defensive system. 

Programmes such as EFPM and EFPGM offered by a prestigious institutes such as IIM Indore will further assist army commanders in expanding their knowledge and participating in research that would benefit the Indian army.

“There’s no age limit for learning. We have selected serving army officers through a robust selection process to be a part of these prestigious programmes offered by IIM Indore. The army officers are adept at crisis management and decision-making”, he said.

Prof Abhishek Mishra informed the incoming batch of IIM Indore students about the programme, its curriculum, and the major subjects that the participants would benefit from. “IIM Indore believes that a programme is enriched when industry practitioners bring their experience to the classrooms. EFPM and EFPMG are initiatives that would create a structure to help India navigate the drastically changing environment at a global level and emerge even more powerful in the years to come”, he said.
