Students’ Senate Chairman, Ninaad Lohakare also wrote to the institute authorities for the same. It was demanded that there should be a complete waiver of overhead charges and mess fees amounting to approximately Rs 10,000.
The students had asked the authorities to increase the deadline for payment of other components of fees from July 27 for two more weeks. But the authorities have still issued a notice urging the students to pay the fees before the commencement of online classes.
Because of the suspension of offline classes, the majority of the students had left the campus. The few who stayed back left by the end of June.
Students also demanded for a complete waiver in the mess fee of Rs.600 hostel overhead fee per semester. A hall establishment charge of Rs 12,500 and technology students’ gymkhana fee of Rs 600 per semester should also be reduced.
But there was no official response from the institute on the demand of the students so they even claimed to reach out to MHRD.
