NMC Advises Students to Avoid Enrolling in MBBS Degree at Singhania University

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has advised students about Singhania University's "misleading" promotion for MBBS admissions and declared that any enrollment in the university's medical programmes is invalid and illegitimate.

NMC claimed that by offering admission to MBBS students, the university violated the Indian Medical Council Act.

An official declaration from the National Medical Commission stated, "It has lately been brought to the attention of the National Medical Commission that Singhania University, Pacheri Bari, District, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan is soliciting applications for MBBS and other medical courses."

NMC claims that the institution is taking online applications for its MBBS programme in response to a ruling by the high court in a different case.

NMC clarified that the university in Rajasthan asserts that the High Court, in the matter of IGNOU, has determined that no provision in the IMC Act authorizes and enables the Board of Governors- Medical Council of India (BoG-MCI) to give the recognition to IGNOU for it to be able to provide learning in MBBS and other medical courses.

Samir Sinha, Deputy Secretary of the Government of India, stated that the said organization slyly asserts that a judgment of the High Court protects it without mentioning the cause title and the Court that has declared it." NMC criticized the university's claim as being "baseless, frivolous," and "in total breach of the law enacted by the Parliament."

It should be emphasized that Singhania University's point violates the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956, the NMC Act of 2019, and the guidelines enacted under both acts.

Therefore, all entries made in the course of medicine (MBBS) by the Singhania University, Pacheri Bari, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan are unlawful and null and invalid from the beginning, the NMC cautioned.

NMC told students that the most recent list of medical schools, together with information about their approval or disapproval for admission and their status, is published on the NMC web page. It encouraged "all students, parents, and the public at large to examine the status of medical colleges before seeking admission in any of the medical colleges."
