SASTRA University has decided to allot 30% of B.Tech seats to students from Trichy and Thanjavur for the academic year 2020-21.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, SASTRA University has come up with this decision to reserve 30% of its total BTech seats to students from Trichy and Thanjavur in order to accommodate more local students in their courses.

Till last year, the percentage of seat allotment for these students was 20%. The additional 10% seats this year will be granted admission on basis of merit. Students applying have to show their Class X, XII results duly passed from a school in Trichy, Thanjavur.
"This shall provide more opportunities for the local students to study in SASTRA which is amongst the top 25 universities in India as per NIRF 2020. Classes for the freshers will start in the face to face mode once the lockdown is lifted with an online bridge course preceding it." Dr.S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA University said while talking about this decision taken by the university.

It should also be noted that the varsity has declared that this year the full admission process will be conducted online so that students do not have to come to the campus and social distancing norms are maintained.
Application Process for SASTRA University 2020
SASTRA University released its application form online on its official website. @https://www.sastra.edu/. Students can apply online through the link in the website.
Here are the steps of how students shall apply :
- Visit the official website.
- Fill in the registration form and click “register”
- Go to the application form link
- Enter the login credentials
- Duly fill up the application form and submit it along with the form fees.
The application form fees for B.Tech courses is Rs 600.
