What is your review of Sona College of Technology?

MA
Mridul Arora Posted On : June 18th, 2021
Studied at Sona College of Technology (2020)

After a critical analysis of Sona College of Technology, my cousin analyzed the pattern followed by the engineering colleges all over India.

Here is what she has to say about her experience from her time as a student of that college:

  • It is a private college and she strongly advises looking for other, better options.
  • The faculty is inexperienced and the faculty is not in touch with what they are imparting.
  • This college is not the right place for foreign students. The students come through counseling and most of them have never heard about IITs or the AIEEE and/or JEE exams. Their IQ is low.
  • The college system is absolutely horrible. They do not care about your interests or goals.
  • If you are a foreign student, then go for NITs and/or II(I)Ts. Or you can opt for studying in some country or stay back in your native country.
  • Most of the teaching staff as well the non-teaching staff verbally abuses the students and more often than not in public.

Despite the college having a good reputation when it comes to providing opportunities, there are a lot of drawbacks.

The faculty demands to be ‘respected’. Some of the teachers pry into the personal lives of their students and use that against them. The staff uses unfair scrutiny while signing records and attendances. They unfairly judge the students and belittle them thus, denting their self-esteem. Partiality is rampant in this institute. No wonder my acquaintance had such a traumatic experience in college.

What is your review of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : February 28th, 2023
Post Graduation in Master of Business Administration Degrees & Marketing, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Graduated 2018)

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, JBIMS is a prestigious business school that has four major advantages. These return on investment, alumni network, location, and faculty.

Return on investment is a key factor that sets JBIMS apart from other institutes. You can complete the entire course by paying only 2-3 lakhs, and the average placement is around 18 LPA.

JBIMS is located in Mumbai, a city that is home to many corporate headquarters. This makes it convenient for students to interact with top companies and increase their chances of getting a good placement.

The faculty at JBIMS consists of industry experts who have extensive knowledge and experience in top management positions. They provide students with an invaluable opportunity to learn from their experiences and expertise.

JBIMS has a strong alumni network, which is one of its defining characteristics. As one of the oldest institutes in the country, JBIMS has a vast network of alumni who are well-established in their careers. However, one area where JBIMS lags behind is infrastructure.

The current campus building is old, but there are plans for a campus renovation and JBIMS has been allotted land near Kalina. In the near future, this factor is expected to be overcome. In conclusion, JBIMS is a top-notch institute with several advantages, and if the infrastructure is ignored, it would receive a 5/5 rating.

What is your review of Tezpur University?

AR
Anindya Roy Posted On : October 16th, 2021
M.Sc. Physics, Tezpur University (2017)

One of my friends attended Tezpur University. His experience with the university has not been good. Here are some of the things that she shared with me.

  • The administration there is headed by only one person and the VC is not cooperative.
  • You will get in trouble if any of your batch mates get involved in any misbehavior.
  • Attending classes there is very important and otherwise, you may not be allowed to do your internships.
  • The library is inadequate. The wifi facility on campus is also not that good.
  • The placement record of the institute is average. The average CTC offered at the recent placement drive was 3.5 LPA.

So, if you have other better options go for it.

What is your review of Vel Tech Dr. RR and Dr. SR Technical University, Chennai?

RJ
Rakhi Jindal Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Vel Tech University (2013)

A few of my friends graduated from VTU and here are a few tips for you. The university was growing then while he was studying and was struggling to set up its name.

Following points is brief insight into VTU:

  1. Few professors in VTU are really good in terms of delivering knowledge. A group of scientists is hired primarily for scientific research. They are doing quite good work in terms of quality scientific papers.
  2. The university, in general, has all the facilities in terms of academics as well as extra-curricular. It has developed well-equipped labs, trained technicians, workshops, and design labs (supported by Dassault System France, NI, etc).
  3. A newly developed open theatre is available for students to enjoy cultural functions.
  4. VTU has 5 hostels for boys and 1 hostel for girls. The rooms are equipped with AC and well-maintained.
  5. It has its postal service, medical service, confectionery stores, bus service, etc needed for a good campus.

VTU is in no way better than IIT Delhi or IIT Madras if compared, however, the environment is great.

What is your review of Vasavi College of Engineering(Autonomous)?

RS
Riya Seth Posted On : August 18th, 2021
B.E Mechanical Engineering, Vasavi College of Engineering (2019)

The institute you decide to enroll in isn’t going to determine your growth. It rather depends upon what you choose to do. However, it is suggested that you join the institute based on your subject preference.

Here is a concise outlook of the institute:

  • The faculty of the institute is extremely proficient and knowledgeable.
  • Some professors hold Ph.D. degrees and are part of research in different departments.
  • It has a good library that comes with many books, journals, etc.
  • There are excellent placement opportunities for CS and IT students. However, it differs according to the market trends. The campus is visited by several core companies.
  • It also conducts sports, clubs, technical and cultural fests.
  • The labs are well equipped.

Disadvantages:

  • Security is very strict, you cannot go freely in and out of the campus.
  • The campus is small, including the sports grounds.
  • Hostel facilities are not up to the mark.
  • The interaction between juniors and seniors is very little.

Thus, make an informed decision. Go through as many reviews as possible before finalizing. As this will shape your career ahead.

Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : April 28th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

In my opinion, both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are in the same league while IIT Guwahati is a bit inferior to them. Let’s discuss further on the basis of some very common aspects

  • Core subjects: BITS Pilani does not focus on core subjects and the research culture is also very inactive. This is because of the extremely laid-back curriculum and attendance policy. The research opportunities offered are very less in comparison to IITs
  • Placements: In this aspect, BITS Pilani definitely fairs better with its flagship Practice School program. Students of this program receive many PPOs from top companies during internships arranged by the college itself.
  • Campus life: IMHO BITS offers the best campus life owing to the student-driven culture and great academic flexibility.
  • Performance: The institutes can be evaluated on the basis of the performance of their students in various entrance exams. IIT Roorkee students score the best in GATE, UPSC, etc. while BITS Pilani scores well in CAT, GMAT, and GRE.
  • Peer groups: The average student quality of both the institutes is somewhat similar with IIT Roorkee giving a slight edge to BITS Pilani in this aspect.

Both the colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and comparing them is illogical. I would say that if you are genuinely interested in CSE, then Pilani will be better for you than Roorkee. But if you aren’t certain of your area of interest then choose IIT Roorkee for its IIT tag.

Can anybody give the correct Dr. CV Raman University review?

AS
Aniket Sharma Posted On : June 27th, 2021
B.E. Computers & Information Technology, Dr. C V Raman University (2011)

Dr. C.V. Raman University is a newly established institute, which offers average-level infrastructure, opportunities, and placement. There are several reviews about the university being a fraud institute, which is not at all true. The points below give a brief overview of the institute.

  • It offers decent placement, considering its recent establishment. It is obvious that students in the institute should not expect companies like Microsoft and Google o conduct recruitment drives in it.
  • It is one of the finest private colleges in Chandigarh and provides good academic as well as port facilities inside its campus. The scenario of job opportunities provided by the institute is getting better with time.
  • The institute is a good place for students who are actually interested to study a specific engineering course, and go to research fields in the future.
  • The main backlash that the institute faces is the truth of its establishment, due to several fake negative reviews over the internet. For this case, students can visit the UGC website to verify the identity of the university.

It is a decent choice for an engineering degree and is a legit institute. Being a newer institute, it is still in the phase of development and growth.

What is your review of Osmania University?

SA
Shashank Arora Posted On : September 24th, 2021
Studying B. Com from Amity university

Osmania University, in my opinion, is a place where you can learn anything you want. Be it academics, politics, or your other goals. There are numerous resources available at OU that you can use to advance your career. The location of OU is its greatest asset. If you are stressed or bored with your daily routine, you can take a bus and be at RTC X-roads, the land of theaters, in 10 minutes. Even walking from OU to X-roads will take less than 25 minutes. Tired of the same old food? Just put your legs outside your room, and you'll have a plethora of restaurants to choose from. Biryani BAWARCHI, the king of Hyderabad Biryani, is also located on RTC-X roads.

If you like reading, you can go to Central Library or Landscape, which are opposite each other. If you want to be an IAS officer, there are excellent coaching institutes like RC REDDY in RTC X-Roads. You can also enjoy some colorful scenery on campus.
