My cousin joined IIIT Allahabad in 2018 and the boy’s hostel has been an average experience for him. He has double sharing spaces at BH5 and the basic furniture and equipment setup like chairs, tables, internet, 2 cupboards, fans, etc are already available. There is no AC, coolers are allowed but BH5 doesn't have any balcony too. 

Below are some factors about the hostel that you may like to know.

Mess:

• The mess at BH5 is spacious and serves better food as compared to messes at other boys’ hostels. It offers a vast variety of cuisine, however, the taste is average and sometimes quite bad.
• For breakfast, you'd get Bread-Butter or Jam, Egg/ or Fruit and Milk, and a main dish based on the menu of the day.
• Dinner is given with a sweet dish each night and non-veg is available once a week on Sunday.
• The canteen is another option if you do not prefer the food from the mess. The night canteen is open late at night and has the basic veg and nonveg snacks available for munching like chips, cold drinks, coffee, etc. along with popular Indian dishes as well. You can order food from outside too.
• There is an air conditioning facility available at other hostels but here, it has not been and there are plans being made to install it soon.

The mess menu is decided by the committee and you get to eat whatever is available for the day- good or bad.

Internet:

• As for the internet, it is available now but wasn't when my cousin took admission, because the hostel was recently built and LAN wasn't available. 
• You will find WiFi routers installed at different spots of the campus to cope with its deficit in the hostel spaces at times. 
• Reliance's Jio is being used although good internet speed is available in the computer lab only.

They have two vast common halls for recreational activities and there are four washrooms on each floor. They are cleaned each morning. Sometimes you'd have to wait for your turn at bathing but it's manageable. There's a hostel lawn for physical activities.

Choosing streams like Industrial Chemistry can be tricky. Generally, students don’t even understand the scope of the basic courses, let alone a specialized course like chemistry. Don’t go for such a course if you are not well-informed about the career prospect.

If you are interested in civil engineering then don't waste time and apply to the new IITs. It is difficult to decide whether you are interested in a particular field. To find out you can get in contact with Civil Engineering graduates from good universities. Ask about their nature of work and growth in the field, etc. See if that sparks your interest. Also, you will have the option to go for GATE and appear in IES.

 If you are given a choice between IIITA and IIITD, take admission in IIIT Delhi hands down. You will never regret it. IIIT Delhi has everything that a good IT institution needs i.e. Great faculty, excellent domestic and international placements, and an overall great experience.

IIIT DELHI

The cut-off for admission at IIITD ranges from 16694-28261. IIITD has a great set of faculty members and the curriculum is excellent.IIITD lacks diversity. With around 85% of the student community belonging to Delhi, it isn't catering to a pan-Indian audience. IIIT-Delhi students seemed frustrated with the workload and students are left with deadlines every single day and thus have no life out of academics. 

IIIT Allahabad

The candidate must have cleared the JEE Mains. The cut off for admission at IIITA ranges from 1291-5330. IIITA has a great coding environment. Faculty is not up to the mark.

They both have a good curriculum but IIIT Delhi has so much more to offer. So If I were you, I would definitely choose IIITD.

Being from Allahabad, I have many friends who are studying at IIIT Allahabad. Undoubtedly, they all enjoy the city and their college as well. As per their experience, here are some major things you’ll enjoy once you get into IIIT Allahabad.

• Allahabad is one of the major cities of India has a lot to offer you already. You can try an array of restaurants and street food as they are inexpensive and has great food. Even the transport is cheap, with Metro rail services being constructed already.

• Head out for mesmerizing views like “Sangam” of rivers and the Naini bridge. My friends usually visit there whenever they want to spend time amidst nature.

• You’ll also find the people of Allahabad friendly and helpful, you won’t feel lost.

• Coming to IIIT Allahabad, you will love everything be it the amazing campus, location, faculty friends, hostel life, etc. However, there are some downsides like bad mess food, harsh weather at times, and Sanjeev Sir.

• The most remarkable things you’ll find at IIIT are great hostels, activity centers, music rooms, high-standard labs. And most importantly, you will find yourself among a mix of brilliant, well-behaved, and diverse students.

At the end of the day, the best thing anyone has ever experienced at a college is college life. You will cherish each and every moment of the 4 years you’ll be spending there. If you can succeed in managing studies and enjoyment to make the most out of it, you won’t regret coming here at all.
