Your academics appear to be quite good. To achieve your goal, you must now concentrate on getting an excellent CAT percentile. If you are in a general category, you should aim for 99.9+.

Begin by strengthening your fundamentals, such as reading comprehension, and devote time to strengthening your verbal skills. Devote 3-4 hours per day, without fail, to your preparations and take note of important shortcuts, tips, and tricks. Also, ensure that you are up to date on current events and that you are well-versed in GK. Finally, work on improving your self-confidence and communication skills so that you can easily pass the interview at IIM A.

What is my possibility to get into IIM Bangalore with academic records of 96% in 10th, 76.6% in 12th, 8.2 CGPA in graduation, and 99.8 percentile in the CAT?

AB

The first and foremost step before trying to get into IIM Bangalore or any institute is to analyze if you are sure about pursuing MBA after enough thought and determination.

After this comes the criteria part. As far as the criteria are concerned IIM Bangalore has the following criteria for shortlisted candidates

    • Past academic score: 50% weightage (20% 10th class, 10%12th class, and 20% graduation)
    • Work experience: 8% weightage (preferably 3 yrs and above)
  • Gender diversity: 2%
  • CAT score: 40% weightage, In my opinion, your academic score is below average. So to compensate for that you need enough work experience of around 3 years.

If you are a CAT aspirant don’t let these rigid parameters demotivate you. Study hard and achieve a very high CAT score, gain work experience if you haven’t, and leave the rest to luck.

Which new IIM (Udaipur, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Trichy and Kashipur) has the potential to join the league of ABC in future? Why?

AS
Aditya Shekhar Posted On : January 6th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (Graduated 2020)

Comparing the new IIMs with the IIM ABC is rather ridiculous and not justified. Considering factors like infrastructure, faculty, and alumni base, the top IIMs are way ahead of the new ones. Even if the new IIMs tackle the infrastructure and faculty issue they can never match the extraordinarily strong alumni base of the older IIMs. The IIMs A, B, and C have given birth to many geniuses that have contributed largely to Indian society in various fields like arts, literature, sports, etc. They have even made impressions globally.

No matter how fast the new IIMs climb up the ladder and excel, they will never be able to match the alumni base and worth of older IIMs.

What kind of roles do Google, and Facebook hire from management institutes like IIM Ahmedabad IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta?

PK
Parneet Kaur Posted On : December 19th, 2022

Google pays a visit to the campus and offers two positions. It's either Product Management (PM) or Marketing. However, both positions may not be available every year. It is determined by the state of the economy, the requirements, and the campus-Google relationship. The project manager position is more desirable than the marketing position.

This year, it hired from IIM C for positions such as industry manager, account manager, and account strategist. Infosys' international positions are for its client-servicing group. All of these candidates will be based in the United States or London. GE Capital and Baring Private Equity are two other recruiters.

Is IIT Bombay a better choice for an MBA than IIM Bangalore or IIM Ahmedabad, considering the overall experience and ROI they have to offer?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : December 30th, 2022

For an MBA, you should not even compare IIT Bombay and IIM Ahmedabad or Bangalore or Calcutta. The IIT Bombay is a prestigious engineering school. For management, IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta are the same. Both are in a completely different league.

Considering only ROI makes no sense from the perspective of an MBA because an MBA is more than just an investment in yourself. These IIMs have much better professors, a world-class curriculum, peer groups, alumni, placements, student exchange opportunities, and so on.

So, if you get through them, please go for the IIMs. Financing your education will be simple because once you graduate from one of these IIMs, banks will be eager to extend loans, sometimes even without a guarantee. And if you do well, you will be able to find a good job and pay off your loan in a few years.

Which program is better and has comparatively more market value and acceptance: IIM Ahmedabad AGMP, IIM Bangalore EGMP, or IIM Calcutta EPBM? All 3 are blended part-time certificate programs.

IIM Ahmedabad - AGMP and IIM Bangalore - EGMP are both excellent programs, better than IIM Calcutta - EPBM. Both classes are held twice a week. Classes were held online during the pandemic. If you are currently employed, both programs will help you advance in your current position.

The one-year AGMP program at IIM Ahmedabad is specifically designed to provide working professionals with general management skills in a global business environment. Jaro Education's classes are delivered using the synchronous Learning Technology platform.

The EGMP at IIM Bangalore brings together participants with a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and experiences, allowing for peer learning. The curriculum is overseen by the IIMB's distinguished faculty. Participants actively participate in case studies and discussions, role-playing, games, and so on.

IIM Calcutta - EPBM prepares participants to adapt to today's fast-paced technological and organizational challenges, while also evolving and adapting themselves. Once a week, the sessions are delivered via an online platform (Sunday from 3:30 - 6:30 PM). There are two 5-day campus visits. Campus visits are subject to the evolving pandemic situation and are dependent on government and institute pandemic regulations, advisories, and guidelines.

I am kind of an introvert. Is my life going to be tough at IIM Bangalore?

PT
Pragya Tripathi Posted On : December 29th, 2022
MBA, IIM Bangalore | Painter | Gamer | Chef

Because of the way the courses, pedagogy, and hostel stay are designed at IIM Bangalore, the transition from introvert to socializer is seamless. Take things at your own pace, avoid peer pressure, and you will gradually notice the transformation. You'll gradually gain confidence in interacting with others and attending parties.

Here are some of the ways IIMB can assist you:

  • Group Projects: Group projects are required in 90% of IIMB courses and account for a significant portion of the grade. This would be carried over into your professional career. The course will gradually acquaint you with collaborative methods and prepare you for the future. And group projects are about more than just work. It's thrilling.
  • Clubs and Societies: You will be a part of groups that plan events and put on successful festivals. Even if you are not a member of a club, you can gain experience by volunteering at events.
  • Case Study: Most of the subjects here are taught using a case study method, which requires you to discuss in groups to get multiple people's perspectives on each case. Believe me, case studies work best in groups, and the interactions can teach you a lot about different points of view.

Being an introvert does not imply that you are a poor communicator. That is the most important skill, and it is what an MBA will teach you. Yes, life at IIMB would be difficult for you, but not because you are an introvert. You will look back on those two years at IIMB as some of the best of your life. So, if you are afraid to join IIMB because you are an introvert, you can overcome that fear.

Is it worth doing an E MBA from IIM Bangalore? I work as SSE. I make around 50 lakhs per annum, age 32 and I have a B Com.

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : December 29th, 2022
Know a few things about MBA

If you measure the worth of a degree by its salary, you will never be satisfied, and I recommend that you do not pursue an MBA. Money is only one of many factors to consider before beginning an MBA program. The salary you have is something that most people do not get even after an MBA/Executive MBA; average salary packages range between Rs. 22 and Rs. 25 lakhs. You are already earning twice as much.

If you want to advance your knowledge of business/strategy/finance/organizational behavior and advance to a higher position where you can have a significant impact, an MBA is unquestionably a good option. However, there is no guarantee that you will earn more than 50 lakhs after completing your EMBA. Go for it if you want to learn and are willing to take a pay cut after your MBA. Don't do it if you're only in it for the money. You could invest in the stock market and watch your money double over time. MBA does not magically transform 50 lakhs into 1 crore.

How is life at SPJIMR compared to the old IIMs?

AA
Anshita Agarwal Posted On : March 10th, 2023
PGPM (MBA - Exec) in Operations and Supply Chain Management, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) (Graduated 2021)

When compared to the top IIMs, SPJIMR is a rather moderately good B School. Yet the placements and roles offered by the B School are at par with that of IIMs. The major USP of the B School is its profile-based evaluation. This means a certain candidate can make it into SPJIMR even if he was unable to get a high CAT or XAT score of 98-99 percentile provided that his profile is excellent. With the required skills, qualities, and a decent academic record you could get admission and meet not necessarily get a very high CAT score. This gives a wider spectrum for students to showcase their skills other than academics. There are some more key points where SPJIMR fares rather well when compared to IIMs or other B Schools.

Fees: The primary factor that distinguishes SPJIMR from the top B Schools is the moderate fees. SPJIMR PGDM fees for 2 years is ?20.42 Lakhs (Total Fees) while that of top IIMs is above 20 lakhs.

Placements: The entire placement drive is concluded quite fast and is at par with the top IIMs. SPJIMR Completes Final Placements 2023 with 46% Rise in Highest Salary at Rs. 77.8 LPA and 3% Rise in Average Salary at Rs. 33.02 LPA; Accenture, BCG, HUL, Godrej, ITC, KPMG, P&G being the major recruiters.

Batch size: This is an often underestimated aspect when in reality it affects both, placements and the quality of education. SPJIMR batch size is around 300 while that of most IIMs is 350-500. The low batch size results in better bonding between peers and close relations with the faculty.

Location: Located in the Finance capital of India, SPJIMR offers a plethora of advantages. Easy access to CXOs and practitioners gives the learning experience at SPJIMR a practical approach.

Curriculum: The curriculum is unique in the sense that it targets not just the student's IQ but also EQ and creates socially and emotionally aware managers. This unique course curriculum at SPJIMR offers three distinct levels of learning:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Societal awareness

Pedagogy: Apart from the regular courses and teaching methodology employed at other premier B Schools, SPJIMR takes five key initiatives in the ‘Non-Classroom Learning’ area which include ADMAP, DOCC, Abhyudaya, PG Lab, and Science of Spirituality.

All these unique aspects make life at SPJIMR a very good experience compared to old IIMs.
