XLRI's two-year full-time AICTE-approved Global MBA program is designed to meet the current business needs and demands of global business leaders. GMP program is focused on providing a rigorous academic curriculum, as well as opportunities for students to learn from three leading economies in the world - India, China, and the United States by allowing them to participate in live internships and college events in each of these countries, as well as a full-time summer internship and organize events in their own.

The program is taught by top professors drawn from the top colleges of each of the three countries. The course is also well-supported by the XL Alumni Network, which sees the program as providing tremendous opportunities in today's world. The batch of students in XLRI's Global MBA program sees a good mix of freshers as well as professionals with work experience.

The Global MBA course has been readily accepted by the industry, with all students getting placed after completion of the program. Quoting directly from the latest placement report: “The average salary saw an increase to INR 32.7 lakhs per annum from INR 30.7 lakhs per annum in 2022. What should I do to clear the GD/PI of XLRI Jamshedpur for HR? Assuming that I have plenty of time to prepare, what should be my strategy?

IC
Indrani Chatterjee Posted On : April 18th, 2023
PGDM from Xavier School of Management (2018)

Group Discussion (GD) will be different from a regular topic-based GD, as it will be ranked-based. In this type of GD, a list of activities will be given to the group, and the members will have to come to an agreement about the importance of each activity. This type of GD does not require specific knowledge on any topic but will require strong communication skills to participate effectively.

Since everyone in the group will have to chime in to speak, there is a high probability that the discussion could become chaotic and disorganized. This should not allow you as a candidate to give up on contributing to the discussion as this will negatively affect the panel’s perception of you. Keep trying to engage with the discussion in a polite manner.

Interview -  The type of questions that can be expected in the PI can be about why the candidate is interested in HR, why they want to do an MBA, and why they want to do it in XLRI. You can also be asked about your educational background and work experience, as well as about how you'd react to hypothetical situations. The key to handling this kind of probing is to remain calm, keep a smile on your face, and not let a single bad answer affect the entire interview.

How good is XLRI Jamshedpur in comparison with IIMs?

GS
Gaurav Sharma Posted On : April 17th, 2023
studied at Xavier School of Management

One of India's top management schools, XLRI Jamshedpur is also recognized as one of the best B-schools in the world. However, as each institute has distinct strengths and areas of specialty, comparing XLRI with the IIMs is not an easy task.

XLRI is regarded as being on par with the Top 4 IIMs, which are IIM (A, B, C, and L), in terms of academic rigour and reputation. Human resource management, general management, and business sustainability management are among XLRI's specialties. The institute places a lot of emphasis on teaching ethical and moral management principles.

The IIMs are a group of the top 20 business schools in India. Each IIM has its unique areas of expertise, and some, such as IIM Ahmedabad (General Management), IIM Bangalore (Entrepreneurship), and IIM Calcutta (Finance), are recognized as the best in those areas.

XLRI and the IIMs with names like FMS and IIFT are highly sought after by recruiters when it comes to placements, and their graduates fetch some of the top incomes in the sector. However, a number of variables, like the size of the batch, the calibre of the students, the demand in the business, etc., affect placement results.

In conclusion, the TOP IIMs and XLRI are both renowned management schools in India, and each has its own advantages and specialties. The decision between the two is based on personal preferences and professional objectives.

Which is better, XLRI GM (GMP) or SPJIMR PGPM in terms of placements and exposure?

TS
Trisha Somwanshi Posted On : March 16th, 2023
Studied at SPJIMR

If you are considering pursuing a One-year MBA in India, it is essential to set your expectations correctly. Doing so will ease your decision-making process.

When comparing SPJIMR and XLRI, both schools have good credentials and carry equally eminent faculty. However, there are some differences that become apparent when we dig deeper.

  • SPJIMR has a location advantage compared to XLRI. Since the one-year program has a much faster pace, SPJIMR's presence in the financial capital of the country gives it unparalleled access to a larger industrial connection.
  • SPJIMR is the only B-school in the country that creates specialization cohorts in the batch right from the beginning. In contrast, XLRI GMP is more of a general management program. Therefore, if you prefer more precise and focused learning, SPJIMR PGPM might be the better option.
  • SPJIMR is known for its diversity policy, which is reflected not only in its batch profile but also in the faculty profile. The PGPM batch carries a healthy mix of professionals from all walks of life.
  • In terms of fees, the PGPM one-year all-inclusive fee is just shy of 20 Lakhs, whereas that of XL GMP is around 25k.
  • The PGPM program at SPJIMR has one of the most dedicated Placement Support teams in the country. If placements are a significant concern for you, this might be a deciding factor.

In summary, when deciding between SPJIMR and XLRI, it is crucial to consider factors such as location advantage, specialization cohorts, diversity policy, fees, and placement support.

What is the minimum percentile to score in CAT exam to get calls from any of the IIMs or other top colleges like SPJIMR, XLRI, Symbiosis?

AT
Arush Tanwar Posted On : March 16th, 2023
IIM Ahmedabad, PGP 2015-17

If you are targeting to join IIM Ahmedabad, then you should aim for a score above 90%ile in CAT. Getting a call from IIM A means getting a call from any other IIM, and the institute has admitted OBC candidates with scores as low as the 80 percentile. So, you shouldn't have any trouble if you score above 90%ile.

For XLRI, you need to score 96%ile or above (at least 95%) in the XAT.

SPJIMR considers both CAT and XAT scores. If you score 90+ percentile in CAT and 95+ percentile in XAT, you should get a call from them as well.

In summary, if you manage to score over 90 percentile in CAT, then, as a female OBC candidate, you can almost be assured of getting into a top IIM. You don’t even need to consider institutes like XIMB or Symbiosis. However, you still need to perform well in GD/PI/WA to secure admission.
