Can my branch upgrade at UIT RGPV if I score good in the exams?

RT
Radhika Taneja Posted On : August 21st, 2021
B.Tech from University Institute of Technology, RGPV (2022)

This is one of the most common questions asked by students in their first year at RGPV. Most of these students are admitted based on the score obtained in the CLC round. Due to this, they are only left with 2-3 options(Mechanical or Petrochemical) to avail seats.

It would not be possible for you to upgrade the branch assigned to you during enrollment. If you have a good academic record, the seats are still offered on the basis of vacancy.

For instance, if a certain branch has a seat available for an OBC candidate, then a General category student cannot apply for it. If in any case, none of the OBC candidates applied for the seat only then you can have a chance.

Even if you have a higher score and have no backlogs, in comparison with an OBC candidate having few backlogs, the seat would still get allocated to him.

Is there any possibility to clear engineering arrears after the 8 years time in Anna University?

HS
Hariraj Sampath Posted On : December 1st, 2022
Studied at Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India

No, the maximum duration to complete your degree in Anna University is 7 years. This includes 4 years in college and 3 additional years for those who are unable to complete their degree within 4 years. But after 7 years you cannot complete your degree.

Before 2017, the students who would fail even after 7 years would get a grace period of 1 year. But this practice has been abolished according to the new regulations.

The decision has made it impossible for anyone who had enrolled before 2011 to clear engineering arrears again.

Till what number on the waiting list gets cleared at IIM Indore?

Well, this is something that cannot be correctly predicted. No one can tell you the exact number till which the waiting list can get clear. If I can vaguely remember, last year the waiting list moved till 45, I am not sure though.

However, since the program is gaining more and more popularity with time, I am quite sure that this number will descend. If you are on the waiting list, I would suggest you keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best to happen.

Is KIIT a good college in terms of education and faculty?

SD
Salini Dasgupta Posted On : July 25th, 2023
studied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2020)

Yes, KIIT is a great college in terms of both education and faculty. One of my friends completed his BTech in Civil Engineering from KIIT and was glad of his decision. The faculty base comprises a mix of highly learned professors and fresh post-graduates generally from IITs or other reputed colleges. But the major issue here is the quality of students getting admission here. KIIT usually averages students who could not make it into other engineering colleges.

No matter how good the teachers are, the level of education can never be great if the students are average and have no interest in studying. Because of the luxurious life the institute offers, students have started taking faculty and education in general for granted. They can be seen frequently skipping classes and exams. This carefree approach toward studies is causing major problems and is destroying the academic ambiance as well as the career of many.

Owing to such an attitude on the part of students, the professors too have little interest in teaching. They dont run behind students and have found comfort in their laid-back attitude. So, the faculty although good is of no use if the students are not willing to extract benefits from them.

Is IISc Bangalore made for only highly intelligent people?

SB
Saikat Banerjee Posted On : July 14th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc)

IISc Bangalore does not grant admission solely to highly intelligent people. Rather, IISc Bangalore makes people highly intelligent. I say this out of my personal experience.

When I entered IISc Bangalore, I knew I was not highly intelligent. I was, however, deeply inclined toward learning and research.

My interview for IISc Bangalore ran for around two hours. The interview began with-

“Plot y=k exp(cx) for different values of k and c (positive, negative, and combination)”, and it ended in my M.Tech thesis. I tried to derive all the values and answer all the questions. Whenever I got stuck, the faculty members helped me conclude.

At IISc Bangalore, you will become more and more inclined towards learning. You will understand yourself and your goals. Then, how people label you won’t be of any importance to you.

What's a day in the life of an IIIT-H student like?

SG
Souvick Gupta Posted On : July 28th, 2023
Studied at IIIT Hyderabad (2018)

Yes, one of my cousins decided to go for IIIT Hyderabad although he had the option of an IIT. The reason he made this decision was because he was certain of a career in CSE and wasn’t getting CSE in the top IITs. He was well aware that the IIIT Hyderabad CSE course is one of the best and toughest in India.

Today his father is proud of his bold decision. He claims the college ration the students in stress management through strict attendance even in games or yoga. The students are always busy with some or the other assignment.

However, the infrastructural facilities are great and the accommodation is quite comfortable. There are laundry services, good eateries, sports facilities, and a very friendly faculty pool.

The best part is the crowd quality as IIIT Hyderabad has no reservation policy. Initially, the compulsory attendance rule may seem a bit rigid but you will realize it does make your life disciplined.

All software giants are aware of the quality of students here and flock in groups to recruit the best minds. The institute has a record of 100% CS placements as it has the best CS course in the entire country with enough focus on research.

So, don’t hesitate from giving preference to IIITs instead of IITs just for the tag.

Do we pass in JNTUH after doing a revaluation?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

Before applying for a revaluation at JNTU Hyderabad, consider the following points

  • Don't apply for revaluation if it’s just a matter of 1-2 marks.
  • Don’t apply for revaluation if the supplementary exams for the same subject are to be held in less than 2 1/2 months. This is because during this time you will be notified of your supplementary exam fee and exam dates.
  • Go for revaluation if the only chance to re-write the evaluation is the next semester is the only chance to rewrite the failed subject you can go for revaluation
  • Apply for revaluation if there is more than 6 months gap for the supplementary exam.

Hope this helped you!

What are the things about NIT Hamirpur that no other IIT/NIT has?

PM
Poushali Mandal Posted On : September 13th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (2017)

Many unique aspects of NIT Hamirpur set it apart from other IITs and NITs. To list a few

  • Location: NIT Hamirpur is situated 3000 ft above sea level in the lush green state of Himachal Pradesh. The campus is extremely serene and beautiful, unlike any other college.
  • Tourist locations : Another unique factor owing to its location is the number of tourist locations near the campus. Major tourist locations like Dharamshala, Shimla, Mandi, Manali, etc. are just 3-4 hours away. Students also make day trips to places like Sujanpur, Kangra Fort, Baba Balak Nath, Naina Devi, Jwala Devi, and Palampur. You can also plan a Trek to KheerGanga, Triund, Prashar Lake, etc. Even in your 4 years, you will not be able to explore all the places.
  • Gender Ratio: Unlike most colleges, NIT Hamirpur has a very good ratio of girls to boys.

Every college has some or other unique factors that help it set itself apart from other colleges. In the case of NIT Hamirpur, its unique location and a number of tourist places around it make it stand out among other colleges.

How is the life of an M.Tech student at IIT Kanpur?

AT
Ayushi Tiwari Posted On : April 19th, 2023
IIT Kanpur (2019)

IIT Kanpur maintains an excellent record of offering the finest placements. Owing to the strict admission criteria only the best students are granted admission to IIT Kanpur.

M.Tech course offered is very challenging and requires a full-time commitment. Moreover, companies and even professors prefer BTech students over MTech students. At IIT Kanpur, you will be left with little or no time to enjoy the beautiful campus life. The students are so busy with academics that they have no time to explore themselves and get involved in extracurricular activities. You will find BTech students participating in every activity and every event.

The situation of MTech students is very pathetic and people mostly give up right after BTech. Their placements are rarely a matter of discussion and the program itself isn’t given much importance.
