How is CSE at NIT Calicut like?
CSE is the best branch at NIT Calicut for your B.Tech. It has the best placement record and highest packages among all the branches. The course structure is such that you will have plenty of free time at your disposal. There is less workload and fewer classes in CSE. The faculty is filled with experienced and supportive teachers.
You should visit the department’s website. Also check out the course curriculum and syllabi online to get a fair idea of the academics and what courses/books you will be studying.
If you want to pursue B.Tech CSE, you can definitely consider doing it from NIT Calicut.
What are the reasons that IIIT-Hyderabad ECE is not as good as its CSE?

The faculty is a mixed pool, some extremely good while some very inefficient. Most students prefer self-studying or seeking help from seniors rather than approaching professors.
The fees are a bit higher than government colleges like MAKAUT Main, Ceramic Tech, Kalyani Govt, etc. IEM first-year fees for the BTech program are ?1.78 Lakhs. The high fees do not translate to high-paying jobs here so the ROI will be very low.
Some other minor flaws are the lack of greenery and the uniform compulsion.
Here, everything depends on your skills and dedication. So adopt a positive mindset, and study well so that you can clear entrances like GATE, GRE, CAT, or GMAT. You cannot be solely dependent on college for shaping your career!

- Even as a Ph.D./M.Tech student, you will have plenty of placement opportunities. You might even get a better offer than a B.Tech candidate if you possess a better skill set.
- Getting into an IIT for M.Tech is quite tough because clearing GATE/GRE with a good rank is a challenging task.
- An integrated course will save you a year which you can use to develop your managerial or other skills/ to acquire experience. The IIT tag is important, however, with the right skill set and plenty of experience at your back, people won’t really bother about your college tag.
- Well-established IITs and R&D firms prefer dual degree holders.
Thus, you should definitely go for a dual degree at NIT Rourkela instead of harboring useless doubts and fears about your choice.
How good is the NIT Delhi for CSE?
NIT Delhi CSE is highly regarded among engineering aspirants mainly because its curriculum has been updated recently to meet industry standards. The faculty of the CSE branch is very lenient and approachable. CSE labs are equipped with the essential software. The placement scenario is great and almost everybody ends with more than one offer. So, NIT Delhi CSE is a great choice for you!
Should I leave NITK Surathkal CS for IIT Gandhinagar CS? I've finished my 1st year from NITK.
You should go to IIT Gandhinagar. That being said, if you have obtained the CSE degree course at Gandhinagar, then the most probable rank you ought to have is under 1800, since the closing rank is around 1800–1900. In that case, you can opt to go for other old IITs’ by compromising with the branch. You will get far better students at old IITs, which can be a plus side to your personal development and further enhancement.
For the most part, the problem with the new IITs is that they lack to provide a greater established alumni network and good infrastructure. However, since IIT Gandhinagar was established back in 2008, you can expect decent infrastructure and facilities.
What is it like to study CS in NERIST?
CSE in NERIST is not a great option in terms of money and time. As one of my friends studied there, here’s what I got to know about it:
- The syllabus hasn’t been updated to the latest needs.
- Some of the professors have no teaching experience. They are more focused on students mugging up rather than learning.
- You will be taught languages that are no longer properly working in the industry.
- The labs here are messy and no the library is too small to accommodate a large group of students.
- The local Arunchali students tend to boss around and threaten everyone.
- The non local teachers also fear the local students and hence they give them better marks, to avoid the commotion.

Moreover, the environment is not academic-friendly. The placements earlier were very bad but have improved eventually. CS has few such good teachers who really care about their students and how much they are actually learning.
